The IT Operations Lead primary responsibility is for the overall management and performance of the IT operations and infrastructure used by the Seeds Research and Development to deliver next generation seed products to farmers worldwide. This includes ensuring the availability, stability, and performance of all IT systems, as well as managing the IT support network and coordinating with other departments to ensure the organization's IT needs are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enable Seeds R&D DevOps teams by taking accountability for the day-to-day operations of the IT systems and infrastructure, including security and performance monitoring, system maintenance and level 1 support.
  • Partner with network teams to ensure the availability, reliability, performance and continuous improvement best practice of all IT supported networks and applications.
  • Managing reporting of Key Performance Indicators to monitor the performance of IT systems and platforms
  • Coordinate with DevOps teams to ensure adequate training and adherence to operations models
  • Coordinate with agile delivery teams to ensure scalable support models for the implementation of new systems and the integration of existing systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations related to IT operations.
  • Develop and implement IT guidance, policies, and procedures to ensure the quality, security and integrity of all IT systems.
  • Stay up-to-date with new technologies and trends in IT operations and make recommendations for improvements to the organization's IT infrastructure.
  • Monitor the IT operations budget and ensure that all IT operational expenses stay within budget.

The preferred location is in our Durham, NC office in a hybrid setting.  Other established Syngenta locations (not remote) will be considered

 


Qualifications

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT operations management
  • Strong knowledge of IT systems and infrastructure, including on premises and cloud environments
  • A strong knowledge of agile methodology and software development life cycle (SDLC) best practices
  • Knowledge or certification in ITIL and ITSM processes
  • Ability to work in a geographically and culturally diverse team environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with IT compliance and security.
  • Experience with IT budget management.
  • Ability to communicate complex issues in a nontechnical manner to a diverse audience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred skills

  • Cloud Experience (AWS Cloud experience preferred).
  • Business knowledge in agriculture or life sciences R&D
  • Experience working in a DevOps operating model
  • Experience managing an IT support team
