We are looking for a customer-focused and detail-oriented Cloud Engineering Intern to join our 

Infrastructure Services Team and work developing, managing and improving our AWS and Azure Cloud based environment. 

You will work directly with our Cloud Services Team and subject matter experts and other stakeholders to understand the services delivered through our Cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service Environments and help in building effective solutions that meet the computing needs of the company. You will be part of a team focused on improving the quality of the services being developed, deployed and delivered, with the ultimate goal of ensuring the continued satisfaction of our internal and external customers. 

This is a unique opportunity to work in a role that offers an opportunity to increase your technical knowledge and creative skillset in a cutting edge and in-demand area. 

This position is available in our Illinois locations in Downer’s Grove or Chicago but can be partially remote.  

Estimated Duration:  May 2023-August 2023 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:   

  • Work with Cloud Services to document and design Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) Solutions  
  • Work on developing maintenance processes and automating them using AWS Terraform and Ansible, and other cloud based technologies  
  • Consult with Architects and SMEs on Design patterns and Systems Architecture 
  • Develop documentation and Tools as directed by the Technical Leads and Architects 

 A day in the life 

  • Partner with key stakeholders for the assigned training projects to build an understanding of the request, to guide the selection of the correct design pattern. 
  • Prepare use cases, design documents, test suites and architecture reviews and support the implementation of  the solution through systems development to production.

Qualifications

Skillset 

  • Interest in or Knowledge of AWS, Azure, Terraform and other IaaS Technologies 
  • Experience with concepts of systems development 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical colleagues and clients 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize  
  • Willing to learn AWS or Azure native tools and scripting languages 
  • Currently enrolled in a BS or MA degree program in computer science or a related technical discipline
