Role Purpose / Accountabilities

As a Project Expert – Risk Assessor in Syngenta’s Human Safety team, you will contribute to the conduct of human safety risk assessments as a senior level expert within North America Product Safety to support the maintenance, re-registration, and development of crop protection products (including chemical and/or seed care products) for Syngenta in United States and Canada. 

You will:

  • Provide critical regulatory and scientific input in human health risk assessments including dietary and non-dietary (operator and residential) risk assessments.
  • Manage a portfolio of registered active ingredients to maintain and expand product registrations, with a primary focus in North America.  Provide North America support for new active ingredient development projects.
  • Collaboratively work with toxicologist(s), risk assessor(s), and modeler(s) in Human safety, as well as other experts in product safety, managing tasks of projects assigned to you
  • Prepare and present scientific and technical positions to key internal stakeholders to inform project and business decisions as well as advocate Syngenta’s scientific/technical positions to key external stakeholders
  • Lead team efforts in identifying, solving, and managing technical issues
  • Communicate work results, progress and challenges to peers and project teams
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the regulatory guidance which governs human safety risk assessment
     
  • Provide technical guidance and mentor other less experienced team members

Qualifications

  • The position requires knowledge of regulatory science and human safety risk assessment for crop protection product development coupled with specialized knowledge/skills from education or job-related training in dietary and non-dietary (operator and residential) risk assessment.
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in biological, public heath, chemical, life sciences, math, statistician or a combination of education and experience in a field relevant to human safety risk assessment to support the maintenance and development of crop protection products is required
  • Indications of singular achievement as well as the ability to work in a high-functioning team is required
  • Experience in a field relevant to human exposure, modelling, data analytics or biostatistics will be considered as a great differential.
  • All applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Travel Requirements: some domestic and international travel required (≤ 5%)
