HSE Lead Seeds Operations

Role Purpose : 

Develop and Coordinate HSE related programs within the stakeholders for supporting business process objective by ensuring the compliance with Syngenta and Country HSE requirements and ensure it's sustainability. Scope is for both India and Bangladesh. 

Accountabilities :

• Ensure the implementation of HSE (Health Safety and Environment) in every work activity to build a healthy and safe work environment.
• Responsibility to ensure Syngenta have comply with all Gov. Regulation related to HSES
• Ensure in compliance to the Syngenta Code of Conduct.                                    
• Involve in  Risk review in operational and project support as part of PRA, WRA , MoC, MSDS changes and new projects
• Conduct regular inspections &reviews of the effectiveness of the support action plan, monitor on the progress, highlighting any issues identified and communicating intentionally to all stakeholders.
• Provide advise and support across the Sections within the country and management of additional resources on their roles to improve HSE performance
• Maintain and prioritise an ongoing list of HSE activities based on inputs from self, other in India and Bangladesh Supply, external stakeholders, local regulation, Syngenta policies/ guidelines/ CoP's
• Participate in reviewing the equipment selection & modifications in terms of safety aspect, validation , precommisioning and commisioning
• Work to develop the program for monitoring parameters for Environment and Industrial Hygiene as per requirements
• Define, establish, implement & improve the Vehicle and Traffic Safety program for ID team to reduce the number of incidents
• Assist in incident investigation process and ensure that appropriate corrective and preventive action are taken
• Submission of HSE reports and measurement of KPI's within the time frame
• Define a strategy to get employees involvement in developing HSE implementation and action plan also to review their effectiveness of the implementation
• Assist Medical Advisor and HR for any Occupational Rehabilitation or CSR as required
• Participate in Gov related activities to Syngenta Business process as required
• Develop an HSE Training Need analysis based on Syngenta CoP/ Guidelines and commence periodic training programs that build awareness & compliance levels on HSE aspects

Critical Success Factors & Key Challenges : 

• Ensuring HSE is understood, complied & reviewed since the team is spread over a wide geography (Field) or is new (New site)
• No incidents during project phase of the new site given the tight schedule & multiple contractors
• Regular networking with the Region HSE team to establish the appropriate HSE systems & processes for Seeds

Knowledge, Experience & Capabilities:

Critical Knowledge 

• Qualified & Experienced in HSE Systems
• Ability to change mindsets of people & work in a productive consultative role
• Training, knowledge transfer ability at various levels of the organisation

Critical Experience

• Min. 10 year working experiences in HSE and min. 5 year working experiences as HSE in supervisory level.
• Hands-on HSE management and change driver in HSE culture of an organisation
• Sound understanding of the key HSE issues in development, manufacturing and logistics
• Chemical, technical and environmental knowledge along with associated risks and controls
• Communication and coordination skills associated to leadership, influencing and governing

Critical technical, professional & personal capabilities : 

• Any degree and experince min. 10 years in HSE
• Experience in management and implementation of HSE management system and security programs.
• Technical expertise on risk assessment and control for development, manufacturing and logistics, involving finished products and chemicals.
• Leadership and influencing skills
• Analytical thinking, having the ability to assess and resolve problems and conflicts

Critical Leadership Capabilities :

• Management and implementation of management systems
• Strong influencing skills
