  • Responsible and accountable for UK Finance Operations including Invoice to Pay (I2P) Service Delivery Management, Accounting to Reporting (ATR), Statutory accounts and certain tax activities.
  • A Director of the Syngenta’s UK legal entities, member of the UK Leadership Team and Head of the Syngenta Guildford site.
  • Responsible for internal control compliance and managing financial risks.
  • Support and drive the Finance Strategy as applicable for the country.
  • Develop capabilities and manage succession across UK Finance.

Accountabilities

Finance Operations & Strategy

  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly financial reporting and planning/ forecasting activities for UK reporting units for Group IFRS submissions and annually for local statutory reporting cycle including coordination with remote Global Finance Operations center and offshoring partners. 
  • Manage annual audit processes for local statutory and group IFRS purposes.
  • Support the Finance Evolution (digital transformation) and the implementation of Continuous Improvement initiatives in Finance Operations processes for UK entities.
  • Drives cross-functional projects and/or supports implementation of Finance / UK local Strategic Agenda projects.
  • Be a positive change champion for the organization, identifying key impact areas and priorities and supporting change programs and strategies.
  • Leads the UK Finance Operations team applying Syngenta’s leadership model and
  • be responsible for attracting and retaining talented / skilled people as well as developing staff for being able to undertake other roles within our One Finance team (Finance Operations, Business Partnering & FP&A, CoE).
  • Partner with Swiss Finance Operations team to support role and function development as well as systems, processes and best practice

Compliance / local management support (including Statutory and tax activities)

  • Board member of UK legal entities. Work closely with the legal function to ensure that board meetings are properly run and documented. Act as a contract signatory for the companies.
  • Member of the UK Leadership Team, chair of the UK Finance Leadership Team and Guildford Site Head.  
  • Be the appointed Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) with responsibility for ensuring the companies establish and maintain appropriate tax accounting arrangements.
  • Responsible for strict compliance with the Syngenta Internal Control Framework, Syngenta Accounting Manual, Syngenta Process Documents (SPD) processes etc.   
  • Work closely with the UK tax team, ensure that Group Transfer Pricing Guidelines are complied with.
  • Proactively supports all functions within the UK organization with financial know-how, IFRS and UK GAAP rules and practical guidance to comply with Syngenta financial frameworks.
  • Ensure the effective development, implementation and evaluation of finance policies and procedures, ensuring their consistent and compliant application with the UK authorities.

 


Qualifications

  • Ability to execute complex reporting tasks, master level on Syngenta Financial frameworks and excellent understanding of IFRS and UK GAAP
  • Master level in planning, budgeting, cost accounting
  • Familiar with Project methodology (BCM, Agile) for interdisciplinary and/or multinational projects
  • Know-how in finance/controlling to allow to act as a frontrunner in emerging topics (discussion leader)
  • Master level in reporting and decision support capabilities and know-how
  • Able to facilitate complex meetings with change aspects
  • Able to demonstrate an innovative and problem-solving approach to issues
  • Able to manage diverging customer requirements in time, quality and with high customer satisfaction
  • Active integration of people in global environment
  • Able to work as an internal advisor/consultant and with management and Senior Leaders outside Finance
  • Able to anticipate end-to-end business requirements on all major processes and it’s impacts on finance / controlling
  • Excellent know-how on consolidation applications such as (SBFC), Central Finance on S4 Hana (CFIN) and gSAP FICO + SD/MM/PP links to finance
