  1. Business & Corporate Functions IT
  2. Syngenta Group
  3. Chicago, IL

Job description

As the Head of IT & Digital for our Vegetables business, you will push hard for breakthroughs that help propel the company forward to solve one of humanity’s most pressing challenges — grow enough food to feed 8 billion people on the planet, in a sustainable way, with fewer resources to feed a growing population.

In this role you will create IT solutions in partnership with our Vegetables business leaders, enabling us to be more productive, solve problems for our customers, and enable new business opportunities. Your work will deliver tangible improvements to business outcomes.

Capabilities & Characteristics for Success:

  • Business and IT Balance – Is bi-lingual in both business and IT, and able to translate business goals into ambitious IT objectives.
  • Collaboration – Ability to understand and influence peers by being a good listener who shows up as an empathetic collaborator, not as an order taker.
  • Strategic Thinking – Can generate a compelling and inspirational vision, strategic plan and capability roadmap that makes it clear how technology can deliver the goals.
  • Intellectual Agility – Is an agile thinker who thrives in ambiguity and has the ability to see "around corners".
  • Prioritization – Can manage that there will always be more demand than supply, but ensures the right priorities make it to the top.
  • Focused on the Ends Not the Means – Measures the value of technology products by the impact they have on employees and customers, not on time, money or meeting "requirements".
  • Intellectual Curiosity – Is curious about the outside world and committed to importing great ideas regardless of where they come from.

Remote (USA) or preferred locations: Downers Grove, IL; Boise, ID; Greensboro, NC.

Must be authorized to work in the USA and visa sponsorship will not be provided at this time. Up to 10% travel may be required.

Duties:

  • Developing technology roadmaps with the Vegetables business that underpin their strategy, driving implementation with internal and external teams to support business growth.
  • Looking across Business functions, identifying and connecting opportunities across regions and domains to collaborate, develop, and share technology solutions.
  • Collaborating with Vegetables business teams in their use of technology to make core business more productive, solve problems, and enable new opportunities.
  • Identifying business requirements, developing solutions including technology, data, processes, resources, and delivering either directly or indirectly.
  • Working with Global Digital and IT, developing products to bring solutions that solve the biggest challenges for our growers.
  • Managing technology solutions throughout their life cycle in close collaboration with global Digital and IT pillars while instituting modern ways of working, such as product management, fusion teams, and DevOps.
  • Working collaboratively across the Global Digital and IT organization to ensure Vegetables business needs are prioritized appropriately and resources and plans are aligned to deliver the results.
