The Graduate Trainee will support the daily operations of our Flowers production site, focused on greenhouse production, particularly for Pelargonium (geraniums) and B&B (Bedding and Balcony) plants. The role offers hands on experience and development opportunities in greenhouse production processes, cold room, fertigation, spraying, engineering and any other relevant department. The Graduate trainee will utilize this opportunity to develop his/her leadership and technical skills required for people management and crop production.

Accountabilities

  • Learn and participate in the production processes such as:
    • Greenhouses: Climate control, plant care, propagation techniques
    • Cold room: Storage practices, temperature management
    • Fertigation: Nutrient management, irrigation systems
    • Spraying: Pest and disease control, application techniques
    • Engineering: Maintenance of greenhouse systems, automation\
    • Phytosanitary: Phytosanitary processes, standards and audits
    • Quality processes
  • Engage in on the job learning opportunities to develop leadership skills including:
    • Team management
    • Decision-making
    • Communication
    • Problem-solving
    • Time management
  • Develop technical skills for Pelargonium and B&B plant production such as:
    • Propagation methods
    • Growth stage management
    • Pest and disease identification and control
    • Culture work and training techniques
    • Harvest and post-harvest handling
    • Quality Control

We are a market leader in the breeding and production of Seeds and Cuttings for high-quality pot and bedding plants. In Kenya, we have two production Sites; Kenya Cuttings Limited based in Thika, and Pollen Limited based in Ruiru.


Qualifications

 Critical Knowledge, Skills and Capabilities:

  • Degree  in Agriculture, Horticulture or equivalent
  • Be proactive in learning and asking questions
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Show adaptability and willingness to learn new techniques
  • Exhibit good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
  • Display initiative in problem-solving and process improvement
  • Maintain accurate records of their learning and achievements

  • Show enthusiasm for the horticultural industry and sustainable practices
