The Crop Planner & Optimization Specialist will create and maintain a balanced Seed Development Multi Crop supply plan1 across a defined group of assets to optimise customer service, cost and site performance, whilst managing uncertainty and risk. The role will focus on Puerto Rico and Puerto Vallarta.

  • Maintain the E2E2 overall supply balance over a 2-year tactical horizon through the creation of supply plans which balance customer service, cost and site functional capacities (including TI, DH, Nursery and Trial activities)
  • Act as the primary contact for all Crop Supply Plan enquiries from the Portfolio team, site managers, site planners, regional planners and other key stakeholders, managing amendments / imbalances in the plans caused by forecast changes and/or production problems to preserve the original customer promise date
  • Work with the regional planners and when needed with MS Teams, Traits teams to manage any demand changes via agreed change control process
  • Act as the key contact for all planning related issues associated with Puerto Rico and Puerto Vallarta for all crops, leveraging the agreed governance model as required and ensuring approval by stakeholders, especially if needed additional resources
  • Anticipate future supply constraints and develop scenarios for their resolution. Partner with regional PPP to advocate for site capital needs to accommodate long term demand.
  • Work with the PPP Head and regional planners ,  site/functional managers to optimize site assets and resources
  • Active communicate among finance, regional planners and site managers, ensuring they are aware of the latest planning proposals and ensuring key issues are escalated in a timely manner
  • Ensure operational planning master data is accurate in the planning systems to help facilitate accurate plans
  • Measure, track, improve and communicate crop performance through globally consistent & aligned Operational KPI’s, including tracking of trialling writing
  • Active participation in the Planning Community of Practice to share ideas and drive continuous improvement mindset

Qualifications

  • BS in Business, Agronomy, Supply Chain, or related field or in relevant science with a track-record of delivery. Good understanding of supply plan demand allocation, S&OP framework, agriculture, crop management and plant breeding principles.
  • Thorough understanding of R&D processes and sufficient knowledge to identify the critical issues and engage effectively with people.
  • Knowledge of tools and processes contributing to effective planning.
  • Spanish speaking is strongly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills with a history of management of operations/supply chain. Experience in operating independently in a complex matrix environment.
  • Experience of partnering with regional or global teams to develop and implement R&D plans.
  • People skills that will build bridges, secure commitment, and drive results. The ability to influence, build consensus and gain support.
  • Clear decision-making in the face of conflicting priorities and ambiguity
