We are seeking a talented and experienced individual to join our team as a Capital Portfolio Manager. In this role, you will have a primary focus on managing facilities investments in research and development (R&D) and spearheading the centralization of regional site footprint strategies. This position will be integral in managing the capital allocation process for these facilities The successful candidate will be responsible for tracking progress and ensuring the successful delivery of the strategic initiatives and possess in-depth knowledge of investment management, footprint optimization, and facilities operational excellence. 

Capital Portfolio Management (40%)

  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize the performance and risk-adjusted returns of our capital portfolio across various assets and regions. 
  • Conduct thorough analysis of existing and potential facilities investments, evaluating factors such as location, capacity, cost, pipeline impact, performance, risk and technical requirements. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, finance, and operations, to identify and prioritize investment opportunities that support innovation and growth. 
  • Through connections with the broader organization stay informed about changes in regulatory, industry standards and compliance requirements to proactively propose adjustment in portfolio strategies accordingly. 
  • Work across functional Capital Managers to ensure the overall facilities investment portfolio is being delivered on time, within budget, and according to quality standards; and that relevant OpEx implications have been accounted for in portfolio and budgets 
  • Work across Asset Management and functional Capital Managers and Planners to ensure equipment investments align to organization standards and processes  
     

 

 

Regional Footprint Strategy (20%)

  • Lead the centralization of regional footprint strategies, working closely with regional teams to identify areas for optimization and standardization. 
  • Collaborate and stay aligned with commercial teams to maintain an understanding of regional markets, including economic drivers, competitive landscapes, and emerging trends, to support formulation of comprehensive (5/15 Year) strategies, including justification for expansion or consolidation. 
  • Collaborate with regional teams to align their strategies with broader organizational goals and our organization footprint principles, ensuring consistency and efficient use of resources. 
  • Work with portfolio and operational planning teams to understand demand justification of capital spend; take in consideration the operational feasibility of our Seeds Business - Supply Chain Strategy 
  • Evaluate the feasibility of potential regional growth opportunities or divestments, conducting thorough due diligence and financial analysis to inform strategic decision-making. 
  • Act as a key liaison between regional teams and senior management, providing strategic insights, recommendations, and reporting on regional performance. 
     

Progress Tracking and Reporting (40%)

  • Establish performance metrics and measurement frameworks to track progress against regional site footprint strategies and facilities investments. 
  • Develop and generate regular reports on portfolio performance, key milestones, and financial metrics for senior management and stakeholders. 
  • Conduct periodic reviews and analysis of the portfolio to identify areas for improvement, efficiency gains, and risk mitigation measures. 
  • Provide timely updates to management, highlighting risks, challenges, and potential opportunities related to regional site footprint strategies and facilities investments. 

Qualifications

Knowledge, Experience, & Capabilities:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Proven experience in capital portfolio management, with a focus on facilities investments and global site footprint strategies. 
  • Strong understanding of research and development facility requirements, including design, construction, equipment, and operations. 
  • Experience in centralizing and standardizing regional site footprint strategies is highly desirable. 
  • Excellent analytical and financial modeling skills, with the ability to evaluate investment opportunities and track portfolio performance. 
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations, industry standards, and best practices in facility management, particularly in R&D environments. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. 
  • Proficiency in project management software, financial analysis tools, and reporting systems. 
  • Attention to detail, ability to multitask, and strong problem-solving abilities.
