Here is how this role will be critical to our business:

Role Purpose

The purpose of the role is to help the Continuous nursery operations for Corn to align with the different regions breeding strategy for the improvement of generation advancement efforts.

The role will provide day to day help to breeders and scientist from different regions on Data collection needed for selection and advancement of materials and help with internal procedures.

The Germplasm coordinator will oversee the field operation E2E procedures to detect any quality issues and will gather the corresponding data to communicate on a timely manner to breeders.

Accountabilities

•            Ensure alignment between the Site and different regions on the breeding strategies and projects anticipating changes and communicating to the site in a timely manner

•            Assist with developing and maintaining a well-organized data base for all breeding activities, research projects, and pollen and seed inventories

•            Recognizing research and operational improvement opportunities and develop innovative research projects to improve protocols, processes, and techniques for all aspects of the germplasm development and seed multiplication processes at the site and in collaboration with project owners (breeders and others)

•            Collaborate with Crops, Operations, Data, Technology and Agronomy leads employees to achieve excellence in delivery

•            Analyze and summarize research data, and prepare concise technical reports, presentations, and posters, for all research activities in a timely manner.

•            Ensure all work is completed in a safe manner following all regulations and JSAs.

 


Qualifications

Essential for this position:

•            B. S in Agriculture, Crop science or Biology related to field.

•            M.S. or Ph.D. in plant breeding, plant physiology, plant production, or related field (Preferentially).

•            Excellent understanding of all relevant agronomic/cultural practices in a tropical environment (irrigation, planting, IPM, pesticide applications).

•            Knowledge of seed crop research, production and quality assurance practices.

•            Knowledge and experience in Corn Breeding Seed production.

•            Knowledge of and ability to use computer software for Data management and Analysis, Microsoft Office and other relevant software required to operate efficiently

•            English proficient: written and speaking

•            Master's degree in science related field or higher with at least 10 years of experience in a technical or agronomy role with experience leading teams or projects in row crops;

•            Demonstrated experience leading and influencing activities of cross-functional teams without direct reporting relationships

•            Ability to lead and influence key stakeholders through challenges and opportunities; facilitates solutions

•            Analytical, ability to demonstrate critical thinking across complex situations

•            Competent in advanced analytics to lead the deployment of new tools and processes;

•            Results orientation with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously

•            Quality of the procedures, advice and proposals.

•            Independent but collaborative work status.

•            Ability to work with multi-disciplinary team and across regions

•            Travel availability (national and international).

•            Driver´s licence.

•            Flexible schedule to work over extended hours, weekends and holidays
