In our pursuit to unlock the full potential of plant science in addressing the global challenge of food security, we are in search of a seasoned professional versed in Lab Informatics and Agile Product Management to join our team. This pivotal role calls for an individual with a deep understanding of genotyping laboratory processes and the expertise to translate this knowledge into cutting-edge cloud-based solutions.

Your role will center around enhancing the precision and efficiency of our genotyping operations through the strategic application of technology. By translating intricate laboratory workflows into scalable digital infrastructure, you will pave the way for more intelligent and rapid genetic analysis. In doing so, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to iteratively develop robust platforms that support our scientists in their quest for discovery.

With a firm grasp of both the challenges faced in the lab and the vast potential of cloud technology, you will be tasked with crafting tools that not only meet the immediate needs of our researchers but also anticipate future demands in an ever-evolving field. Your analytical skills and proactive approach will be instrumental in propelling our genotyping capabilities into a new era.

Accountabilities

  • Devise strategic digital innovation plans for genotyping laboratory applications, ensuring products are finely tuned to the specialized requirements of lab experiment execution, collaborative research environments, and precise result interpretations.
  • Foster close collaborations with genotyping lab stakeholders and R&D departments, assuring all digital tools are well-suited to enhance genotyping workflows and scientific standards.
  • Pioneer the integration of next-generation technology, including AI and data analytics, within genotyping platforms, thus propelling the industry's research frontier forward.
  • Oversee the entire product lifecycle management, from detailed budgeting to scheduling and distributing vital resources, tailoring them specifically for genotyping projects.
  • Provide continuous oversight for the performance of genotyping digital tools, identifying performance bottlenecks, and implementing strategic solutions to reach desired goals.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education:

  • Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genetics, Computer Science, or a related technical field

Professional Experience and Technical Proficiency:

  • Extensive knowledge in at least one core area: genotyping lab operations, bioinformatics, or software engineering, with some experience in another domain, providing a well-rounded expertise in biotech innovation. In-depth understanding of digital product development and management with application and development teams.
  • Business analysis experience, capable of identifying and bridging the gap between genotyping lab needs and IT solution delivery.
  • Proficiency in managing the intersection of digital products with genotype result databases, LIMS and IT ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with the regulatory landscape impacting biotechnology data management and compliance.
  • Experience in managing cross-disciplinary IT projects, ideally within a biotech or life sciences research setting. 
  • Expertise with bioinformatics tools, databases, and IT management software.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and project management tools.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

  • Robust analytical abilities for scientific data interpretation and IT system conceptualization.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a capacity for innovation in complex scientific and IT domains.

Leadership and Communication:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and drive innovative teams.
  • Strategic thinker with data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication capabilities, adept at simplifying and articulating complex bioinformatics and IT topics to various audiences.
