Job description

As the Formulation Engineering Pilot Plant Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in our innovative formulation processes. In this position, you will supervise formulation technicians who provide essential technical support for both existing and novel manufacturing technologies. Your team will focus on maximizing quality, capacity, and efficiency outcomes during the scale-up process and after the launch of new formulated products into commercial manufacture.

This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to driving innovation in formulation engineering. You will be at the forefront of our efforts to enhance our formulation capabilities and contribute significantly to the success of our product development pipeline.

Duties:

  • Supervise formulation technicians in supporting engineers with equipment evaluation, process development, and pilot plant trials, ensuring efficient execution of formulation processing experiments.
  • Drive a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all Syngenta safety policies and standard operating procedures while maintaining procedures, equipment, and facilities.
  • Assist formulation engineers in scaling up processes from lab to full-scale manufacturing, with a focus on process safety, health, and environmental considerations.
  • Document experiments, develop reports, and propose follow-up actions, while continuously expanding knowledge of formulation engineering techniques and equipment.
  • Proactively propose and implement improvements to group operations, including safety, efficiency, and productivity initiatives, potentially serving as a functional representative on departmental operations teams.

Qualifications

Please note: this position is 100% onsite at our Greensboro, NC location and does not support visa sponsorship now or in the future.

  • B.S. Engineering degree or proven technical experience in formulation processing development or manufacturing with a minimum of 4 years of experience.
  • 2+ years of experience supervising or managing teams (shift lead, assistant manager, or supervisor role preferred).
  • Continuous improvement, process risk assessment, and HSE excellence.
  • Experience and ability to drive a forklift and move pallets.
  • Understanding of and experience in handling dangerous and charging chemicals.
  • Product development, formulation processing scale-up, and lifecycle management.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with solids processing unit operations (milling, mixing, granulation, etc.).
