Role purpose

  • Maintenance of all equipment and systems, including process, warehouse, and laboratory equipment. 
  • Successful delivery of defined compliance activities for the specified sectors, ensuring absolute conformity with legislative requirements. 
  • Accountability for the development and execution of appropriate maintenance strategies with fully aligned product, site, and production area strategies. 
  • Development of budget and cost management systems for defined areas of maintenance responsibility. 
  • Maintain first response support to the specified sectors, meeting the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and safety targets defined by plant operating and asset strategies. 
  • Ensure that capital projects use fit-for-purpose engineering solutions and meet Syngenta QHSE requirements through close collaboration with Technology, global engineering and other technical resources, principal engineers, and key stakeholders. 
  • Manage asset care and utilization; achieve optimum asset life-cycle cost and availability through the use of best practices and lean engineering. 
  • Recruit, train and maintain the appropriate level of maintenance professionals on site. 

Accountabilities

  • Foster and maintain a culture of manufacturing excellence using best practice maintenance tools and Operational Excellence methodology. 
  • Develop and manage maintenance budgets in areas of accountability based on clear justification criteria for levels of spend, complying with defined asset and maintenance strategy. 
  • Perform maintenance activities to ensure full compliance with all regulatory and Syngenta standards based on plant, compliance and product strategies. 
  • Deliver established maintenance plans and procedures with an emphasis on improving present maintenance operations and activities. 
  • Act as the first line of breakdown support for specified equipment. 
  • Diagnose failure mechanisms to define repair methods and prevent a recurrence. 
  • Monitor and report maintenance elements of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). 
  • Manage maintenance spending to meet set budget. 
  • Manage planned, engineering-based outages. 
  • Implement capital projects: estimate, execute, track and report the costs and physical progress of individual capital projects to ensure delivery that meets challenging time constraints and within agreed cost and safety parameters. 
  • Demonstrate Health, safety & environment and Quality leadership through rigorous application of procedures and consistent, visible action where engineering work is being performed, including ensuring the application of Syngenta codes of practice such as Process Risk Assessment and country-specific engineering standards to capital projects. 
  • Contribute towards the site's achievement of Syngenta's Health, Safety & Environment and Quality standards including ISOs. This involves a sound understanding of the QHSE Management system.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Experience & Capabilities

  • Degree and/or Master of Science in Mechanical/ Electrical or Automation Engineering or Process Engineering 
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a chemical process plant, packing industry (power, granule/ liquid chemicals) 
  • Experience in total productive maintenance (TPM)/ Preventive Maintenance system 
  • Experience in management, supervising subordinates / sub-contractors 
  • Good knowledge of equipment and facility in chemical plant (mechanical $ electrical, automation, infrastructure) 
  • Good knowledge of Health, Safety & Environment and Quality in chemical plant
