To support that challenge, the Maintenance team is currently seeking an Electrical Engineering Co-op in St. Gabriel, LA. You will have the opportunity to work in the demanding world of chemical facility maintenance.

Duration: May 2023 - December 2023, with the option to extend 

The expectation is that the selected Co-Op will be able to work 40 hours a week for the duration for their assignment. 

You will: 

  • Perform studies for electrical equipment  
  • Develop testing and feasibility studies using fundamental engineering principles 
  • Scope and execute small capital projects 
  • Develop equipment repair procedures and check-sheets 
  • Assist in maintenance engineer tasks 
  • Electrical/Instrumentation 
  • Gain understanding of current engineering and manufacturing codes (i.e. IEEE, NETA, UL, NEC/NFPA, etc.) 
  • Basic knowledge of Industrial electrical infrastructure (i.e. switchgear, transformers, substations, etc.) 
  • Applied knowledge of industrial "power" including low, medium, and high voltage 
  • Learn and apply the fundamentals of Electrical Equipment Integrity Management 

Qualifications

What you must have: 

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent 
  • Enrollment in a Bachelor’s Degree program in Electrical Engineering with a Junior or Senior class standing 
  • Good academic standing with the university, with a minimum 2.5 GPA overall/major 
  • Relevant core basic science/engineering classes through Sophomore level: (ie. Circuits I and II, Digital Design, Electromagnetics, etc.) 
  • Fluent in English 

What you might also contribute to the team: 

  • Experience with Microsoft Office or equivalent 
  • Ability to apply a systemic approach to problem solving  ​​​​​​​
