The Challenge

In this role you will deal with the legal conduct of certain strategic or corporate projects related to the business and represent Global Headquarters in relation to the implementation of corporate training programs on competition law compliance and other legal issues. You will be a business partner for Syngenta Vegetable Seeds EAME assisting on achieving the BU strategies and objectives in a resource-efficient manner by providing a high-quality, proactive, objective and commercially-orientated legal services and advice, in respect to distribution and collaborations agreements, quality claims and litigations, and IP related matters. You will be expected to effectively influence personnel within Syngenta at levels of seniority; “opposition lawyers” of any seniority and experience representing third party customers, suppliers, licensors/licensees, or purchasers/sellers of businesses; and business personnel from such third parties in face-to-face negotiations.

You are accountable for assessing proposed commercial relationships, in order to ensure that their implications are fully understood, to structure and to draft/negotiate and finalise definitive agreements to ensure these relationships are properly defined and recorded. You will also assume leadership for the Data Protection organisation in BENELUX.


Qualifications

Your Profile

To succeed in this position, you are a qualified lawyer and preferably have around 5 to 8 years’ post-qualification experience including a sustained track record in involvement with complex and demanding legal transactions and exposure in a commercial environment to commercial, intellectual property, data privacy, product liability, environmental and competition laws. The ideal candidate will be capable of leading projects involving other professionals and/or senior business colleagues and structure business proposals and translate them into a suitable legal framework. Experience and exposure in agriculture, seeds or similar industry is an advantage. Fluency in English and ability to review and draft contracts in English is mandatory for this role.

The aim of this regional role is to advise on, lead and co-ordinate various legal matters in order to maximise and protect the interests of this certain Syngenta BU in EAME with a view to increasing the profitability of the business and of the Syngenta group; as well as to support the delivery of the strategic objectives of Syngenta and ensure that all activities of the EAME Vegetable Seeds  are undertaken in accordance with the legal standards prescribed by the Syngenta Code of Conduct.
