The Global Knowledge and Portfolio Management (KPM) team is responsible for implementing Knowledge Management practices within Traits, Regulatory, and Product Safety (TRPS) and to manage projects portfolios that impact the TRPS organization.  These include the FTO and Risk Management IT Value Steam, the Biotech Trait Development Portfolio, and the Field Crop Native Trait portfolio.  Within the KPM team, the Quality Management - Publishing team is responsible for quality reviews of scientific data and reports, document publishing activities, and development of tools and processes to streamline delivery of high quality scientific and registration documents.  The Copy Editor will be responsible for a wide range of activities related to publishing and document management, including reviewing documents for accuracy, formatting, redacting, translations, and archiving.  The Copy Editor will need to assess the individual needs for each document with a significant portion of the effort for this position spent reviewing documents for accuracy, formatting, and compliance requirements.
Accountabilities

  • Review scientific, technical, and registration reports and documents to ensure content accuracy, consistency within the document and across similar documents, and quality -including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax
  • Maintain style guidelines and process documentation related to Publishing process within TRPS – partner within and externally to function to establish document management best practices
  • Review scientific reports and documents to ensure compliance with Syngenta’s global formatting and style guidelines 
  • Review scientific reports and documents for regulatory submission purposes to ensure compliance with regulatory agency format requirements
  • Responsible for ensuring scientific, technical, and registration documents are grammatically correct, readable, and suitable for target audience 
  • Provide additional documentation support such as redactions and copyright clearance to meet public access criteria for Syngenta documents 
  • Develop, maintain, and follow accurate process documents
  • Provide input into the development of IT solutions to support publishing and archiving activities
  • Provide customers with individualized guidance throughout the document life-cycle
  • Maintain data for Key Performance Indicators
  • Partner with Registration Technical Writer to ensure scientific, technical and registration document content adheres to internal writing standards
  • Partner with internal stakeholder groups to understand their needs, ensure delivery meets expectations, garner support for team initiatives, deliver training on new systems and processes, and seek feedback for process improvements
  • Ensure documents are archived according to accepted processes  

Qualifications

  • B.S. or B.A. degree
  • Expert with MS Office products, particularly MS Word, and Adobe Acrobat
  • High standard of accuracy and a keen attention to details
  • Ability to digest technical information and identify inconsistencies in content 
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals of various backgrounds and technical competencies
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Ability to work to business-critical deadlines
  • Maintain and improve high quality standards
  • Proactive, self-motivating, decisive, ability to work under pressure

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with controlled document management systems preferred 
  • Experience in Agriculture or related sciences 5 plus years
  • Experience with managing documents for biotech crop registration is an advantage
  • Experience with proofreading scientific text, preferably plant biotechnology, is an advantage
