The primary purpose of this role is to provide students in Horticulture, Plant Science and/or Marketing Communications with an interest in the green industry an opportunity to work on real projects related to the ornamental plant industry. Interns will collaborate across functions such as Marketing, Product Development, Branding, Campaign Creation and Communication as well as using digital KPI’s to measure results.

Essential Duties:

  • Analyse data from our website and other digital marketing channels and provide insights to be used for creation of marketing tools.
  • Leverage internal marketing product data management (regional assortment data management in collaboration with product manager and global marketing support teams).
  • Use statistical tools to develop and implement effective and impactful campaigns.
  • promotional marketing deliverables (tradeshows, advertising, collateral, websites, digital marketing initiatives, etc.).
  • external marketing communications (catalogs, sell sheets, culture guides, tech tips, technical marketing resources, customer letters, bylined articles, etc.).
  • Develop marketing KPI’s to measure campaign implementation.
  • Ensure the Syngenta Flowers brand is presented effectively, consistently and in line with global standards across all customer touch points and marketing channels.
  • Participate in planning and production of new product introduction and campaigns
  • Assist in the management of SEO, regional website content, and collaborate with the global digital team.
  • Assist the marketing team with PIM data entry, exporting reports and customizing them for multi-purpose use.( data entry, provide customize data for broker/partner catalog production, crop label and marketing stake tags, etc.)
  • Assist in pre and post videography and photography productions such as collaborating on scripts, photo renaming, cutting out photos, formatting files, and uploading to bynder, Box, Teams, Website or YouTube.
  • Assist the Marketing Event coordinator with event registrations, setting up listening devices and product labeling.

Qualifications

  • Ability to develop and leverage working relationships with the marketing and business transformation team. 
  • Ability to adhere to defined processes for all marketing activities.
  • Ability to champion the overall Syngenta brand strategy, leading with data
  • Ability to problem solve, prioritize, and work independently in a changing and multi-tasking environment with numerous deadlines.
  • Effective time management, organizational and leadership skills.
  • Participate in ways of working with Flowers, Home & Garden businesses.
  • Willingness and ability to accept projects and challenging tasks.
  • Ability to take technical information and apply creative solutions.

Knowledge, experience & capabilities

  • Knowledge of CX platforms, Google Analytics, Emplifi, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Drupal (CMS).
  • Graphic design and current graphic design software knowledge is helpful
  • Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop Publishing software: Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Asset management / file management software: Box, Bridge, Bynder, etc
  • Strong attention to detail, highly organized, strong computer skills.
  • Has working knowledge of website development and platforms.
  • Must have basic project management and deadline management capabilities.

Critical knowledge

  • Knowledge of industry is an asset. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Critical experience

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Communication, Horticulture, Agricultural Marketing, Agriculture Business or another closely related field of study
  • Must express interest in the seed production industry and willingness to learn
  • Must hold valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Critical technical, professional, and personal capabilities
  • Collaborative- Detail/Accuracy oriented with ability to work independantly and in teams within an agile environment
  • Communicative- Very strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Innovative – to always look to implement new procedures or technologies to improve work efficiencies
  • Organized- able to support marketing activities requiring long- and short-term planning and organization.
  • Analytical - Strong data analysis skills- able to interpret data and draw a conclusion
  • Service Minded-  strong customer focus (internal and external)

Additional Information

Hourly Salary Rate of $18.00 - $30.00
