R&D Data Platforms is a new team at Syngenta Crop Protection. We are building an R&D-wide data ecosystem to help us curate, connect and exploit data. Making our data more Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR) is at the foundation of our digital transformation. As a part of the team, you will play a critical role in reshaping the research experience for scientific experts through cutting-edge IT and digital capabilities. We support the entire research and development pipeline of a chemical agricultural company.  That means you will be continuously learning and evolving data pipelines, data products, microservices and cloud native solutions to meet the challenges of a dynamic and vital industry. Join our team now at Crop Protection (CP) R&D as Data Platform Technical Lead

This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career. As Data Platform Technical Lead, you will be responsible for:

• Driving the technical direction of the key data platform in CP R&D
• Change leadership in digital architecture & data framework activities
• Driving the development and implementation of data pipelines
• Technical design of software solutions for scientists and engineers in Crop Protection Development
• Engaging with R&D stakeholders and Business analysts to understand needs and convert them into technical solutions
• Developing cloud infrastructure concepts and strategies to ensure use of cutting-edge technologies that are highly performant and optimized for the cloud
• Ensuring all squads adhere to an Agile, DevOps and SRE mindset, you will work in Agile-Scrum methodology to deliver platform architecture and solutions
• Proposing portfolio backlog items that will drive increased business value through technology changes

Required skills to have for the success of this role:

• Graduate degree or equivalent in a STEM discipline
• Experience in implementing integrated data platforms in the cloud, Ideally AWS certified
• You are data minded, have solid professional judgement (privacy and security focused) and problem-solving skills. You remove the toil out of existing processes and approaches through a continuous improvement mind-set
• Strong customer focus, communication, teamwork, negotiation skills and work effectively in global, multi-cultural teams
• Fluency in English, additional languages beneficial
