Role Purpose:

The Data manager will work closely with Field scientists and Product Biology Technical Managers to support handling various BITS tools and platforms. Enable the transformation of field biological data into knowledge with an emphasis on experimental design, analysis, data quality, dataset handling, and providing support to the CPD community. Support statistical analysis and project decisions via consulting, training, and development of reports, applications, and processes

Job description:

  • Develop and implement procedures for effective data management.
  • Regularly monitor and evaluate information, data systems and data flow that could affect analytical results.
  • Work closely with Field trialing team (Field Biologists) and support them in handling of various BITS tools to capture data from field to system.
  • Support Technical Excellence and Quantitative Biology for development, testing, and implementation of new methodologies and applications in data projects
  • Use BITS and other tools and systems to provide information to CPD team in the form of data searches, queries, summaries, visualizations, analyses, and reports.
  • Conduct and support in appropriate statistical analyses of product performance data for towards CPD and business needs.
  • Continually develop data management strategies,  Designing and curating data collection system
  • Support product advancement by improving processes and tools improving data flow from field to system. 
  • Engage in and contribute to the APAC and Global R&D Scientific Networks.
  • Serve as a resource for scientific information based on data analytics and technical experience.
  • Generate innovative solutions in dealing with work problems and opportunities.
  • Reviews technical documents for errors, missing pages, or missing information and resolves any discrepancies.
  • Support the team on all integrations and proposals

Qualifications

Knowledge, experience & capabilities

  • Exceptional oral, written, communication and computer application skills. 
  • Ability to decipher and organize large amounts of data.
  • An analytical mindset with superb communication and problem-solving skills.

Academic Requirements

  • A M.Sc. degree minimum, with a Ph.D. preferred, in an agricultural or plant-science related field of study (Agronomy, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Weed Science,) with an emphasis on statistics and data analysis.

OR

  • A M.Sc. degree minimum (Ag. Stat) or Stat (with specialization on agricultural research) with relevant professional work experience or experience in terms of research communications showing use of analytical tools over agricultural data

OR

  • Ph.D. (Ag. Stat) or Stat (with specialization on agricultural research)

Critical experience

  • Experience with field-based research, statistical methodologies
  • Experience with handling and managing large amount of data
  • Knowledge of design of experiments is must
  • Experience with writing scientific communications
