You will develop and lead the implementation of a transformational Data Governance framework within the area of Product Safety.

As the Lead, you will define scientific data governance frameworks and will be accountable for identifying, agreeing, and documenting Data Management, Quality, and Governance requirements in collaboration with business stakeholders in Product Safety (PS), Information Technology (IT) and Digital R&D.

You will ensure that PS scientific data assets comply with the required standards for use in decision making, analysis, predictive modelling, and regulatory submissions and promote the role of governance, co-development of processes and SOPs that follow data governance best practices.

The main responsibilities of the role:

  • Define the scientific data governance framework in alignment with business needs and compliance with relevant standards, including:
    • Internal and external data sources
    • policy development
    • allocation of data ownership
    • monitoring and reporting of compliance with policies
    • data access and security risk management
    • data asset cataloguing
  • Drive the implementation of the governance framework across the global Product Safety organisation. In collaboration with data managers, ensure that principles, policies, and controls are defined and integrated into working practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement of data quality and data maturity through the implementation of innovative approaches.
  • Proactive engagement with the stakeholder community to fully understand the challenges that exist and advocate for the adoption of FAIR data principles.
  • Contribute to the wider development and implementation of the Product Safety Data Vision and Strategy.
  • Collaborate with R&D functions to understand how Product Safety data is or could be (re-)used to maximise business value of FAIR data.

Qualifications

Technical skills required for the role:

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing data governance strategies including formal qualification, broader industry awareness and practical experience (5 or more years in similar or related roles).
  • Evidence of skill in communicating the importance of data governance to stakeholders inside and outside an organisation to achieve buy-in to your strategy and enabling behavioural changes across the organisation.
  • Leading data governance related projects and teams
  • Change management skills with respect to planning, executing, and sustaining data governance programs.
  • Experience in a life sciences technical area and/or experience related to operational and scientific processes, ways of working or analytics would be an advantage.

Capabilities required for the role:

  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Influencing skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders not directly benefiting from the change – articulate vision, outline processes and manage expectations to foster support and collaboration
  • Continuous learning attitude - ability to keep up with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in data governance and related fields.

  • Based at our International Research & Development site, Jealott’s Hill site, in Bracknell.
  • Hybrid working -  with 3 days a week in Jealott’s Hill.
  • No direct reports.
