About this opportunity: 

We are building R&D-wide data capabilities to allow us to access, connect, share and harness our R&D data at an unprecedented scale and pace. At the same time, we are on a journey to foster a more data-driven, data-centric culture across R&D, increasing the data savviness of the organisation, as well as encouraging an openness to new ways of thinking and working with data and analytics.  

We are looking for a Data Enablement and Adoption lead to design, lead, deploy and maintain strategic data literacy and digital upskilling initiatives in CP R&D in close partnership with the R&D functions. You will act as a translator, champion and ambassador of our data platforms, connected data products, analytics and tools across R&D. Your will also drive adoption and value realization via outreach, change management, training, and communications.   

You will be accountable for: 

  • Working with digital leads to understand the needs for data literacy and upskilling in the R&D functions 

  • Capturing and documenting requirements from different personas and job roles on data literacy, training, and upskilling. Design and lead R&D-wide training initiatives in partnership with data literacy platforms and suppliers and internal leads and subject matter experts  

  • Defining and maintaining training pathways for the different personas and makes sure content is fit for purpose and up to date.  

  • Defining, measuring and monitoring KPIs for adoption and success of data literacy and upskilling programs  

  • Coordinating comms and change management initiatives around data literacy and digital upskilling to ensure uptake, adoption and impact in R&D 

  • Forging networks of digital leads, data champions and experts in the R&D functions to drive engagement and adoption  

  • Capturing and translating scientific requirements for innovative, cross-functional, cross-domain data use cases and works with data and digital leads to explore, design, and deliver these in an Agile fashion 

  • Championing the use of our data platform, data domains and data products. Working with data experts and digital leads to share best practices, drive utilization and exploitation of data domains 

  • Setting up outreach and comms activities to raise awareness, educate and train data experts and business leaders, including running workshops, hackathons and seminars 

  • Championing and promoting a data-centric, data-driven culture across all levels and roles in CP R&D 

  • Engaging with other data training practitioners for continuous improvement and ongoing learning, and to identify broader organizational needs

  • Ability to build solid and trusting working relationships with sponsors, data and digital leads, managers, and SMEs  

  • Strong influencer with excellent interpersonal and communications skills 

  • Ability to think creatively and out of the box  

  • Self-motivated and proactive, ability to anticipate issues early 

  • Consensus builder across diverse interest groups and multiple stakeholder groups 

  • Ability to deliver in cross-functional environment on a global scale 

  • Ability to work across boundaries and multiple levels within the organization 

  • Ability to meet deadlines and perform duties and responsibilities with minimal oversight  

  • Ability to build confident and trusting relationships with Syngenta internal customers 

  • Ability to guide and coach in an intuitive and creative way 

Experience required: 

  • 8+ years of business-facing experience related to data, analytics, technology, digital and their applications in large organizations, ideally in science-driven R&D 

  • 4+ years’ experience leading data transformation, enablement, product management, adoption and/or data literacy programs with strong training/outreach component 

  • Experience working in the Life Science industry and leading change in a scientific culture 

  • Superb communication skills with both leadership and technical teams 

  • Solid understanding of R&D, learning and innovation processes 

  • Solid understanding of the data lifecycle, data management and exploitation capabilities, ideally in global life-sciences, or science-driven R&D organizations. 

Minimum education & critical knowledge: 

  • University Master’s Degree in a STEM, teaching or data science discipline 

  • Strong customer focus, communications, outreach, teamwork, influence and negotiation skills 

  • Life Sciences / scientific training and outreach / data & digital background 

  • Keen interest in advances in data sciences, digital technology and science in the external world
