Job description

At Syngenta, we are working to build the most collaborative and trusted team in agriculture that provides leading seeds and crop protection innovations to enhance the prosperity of farmers. To support this challenge, Syngenta’s Crop Protection Commercial Team is currently seeking a remote Customer Service Representative in the Swift Current, Saskatchewan area.

Role purpose:

In this role, you will enhance sales and profitability by collaborating closely with top-tier growers. Achieve the established sales and market share targets set in the district's comprehensive sales and marketing plan, while following both company and corporate policies and strategies.

Accountabilities:

Meet or ideally exceed territory sales targets and objectives by:

  • Focusing on Elite Grower clients identified as “Grow and Get” (these are substantial grower clients where our current market share is below expectations, according to market research findings).
  • Implement annual business activity plans with selected top tier growers in cooperation with preferred retail partners using a Customer Link approach.
  • Execute the Discovery phase of strategic selling with a strong business orientation and focus on providing added value and information beyond agronomic expertise.
  • Delivering programs or offers to target growers.
  • Collaborates with Territory Sales Representatives to oversee retail partnerships in their region.
  • Manages performance inquiry process by working hand in hand with the Seed Care Specialist and the Agronomic Service Representative for agronomy requirements.
  • Communicates on an ongoing basis with elite grower’s preferred retail account representative and/or consultants to keep lines of communication open between Retail Account(s) and Syngenta.
  • Records all grower interaction including offers made and agreed-to in CRM tool so that information is shared with appropriate TSRs and other internal colleagues.
  • Collaborates with Customer Campaign teams to provide input on customer needs.

Critical knowledge:

  • Knowledge of crop protection businesses in Western Canada and the full range of Syngenta products. Extensive understanding of distributor and partner networks in Western Canada.
  • Comprehension of the Canadian and North American agricultural, seed treating and crop protection markets and the regulations and policies that affect these markets.
  • Agronomic knowledge of the crops grown in the geographic area.
  • Awareness of new and existing technologies.
  • First-hand knowledge of farming operations and the ability to seek information about the real underlying needs and business strategies of the grower.
  • Understand the fundamentals of business challenges, strategic selling and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication, written communication and presentation skills enabling transfer of quality information to stakeholders and contacts and across the organization.
  • Excellent self-development skills in managerial competencies, building and maintaining product knowledge, use recommendations and knowledge of current and emerging technologies.

Qualifications

Required skills:

  • A B.S degree in Business, Science, Agriculture, or Supply Chain Management.
  • Extensive experience in the Canadian Crop Protection market.
  • Understanding of financial analysis and business practices.
  • CCSC an asset.
  • CCA an asset.

Additional Information:

  • Travel required – 30%
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
