Role purpose:

  • Act as supply operations manager for crop protection, leading the strategy and operations for primary and secondary logistics in Vietnam, ensuring processes run efficiently and HSEQ standards are met
  • Oversee logistic operations in Vietnam, collaborating with 3PL, 4PL and internal teams for the management of warehouse and distribution centers, inbound deliveries, import and export processes, transfer of goods between sites and delivery of goods to customers on time, in full, with the right quality and at the optimum cost, complying with country relevant laws and Syngenta’s internal policies
  • Improve processes for receiving, storing, shipping, and delivering products to meet customer needs, developing strategies for reducing operating costs while maintaining high quality standards for products and services offered
  • Act as deputy for the Country P&S Head

Accountabilities: 

  • Responsible of crop protection deliveries, work with Procurement in the selection of transport providers, review the contractual agreements prepared by procurement, and implement ways of working with new providers, including onboarding into Syngenta processes and policies
  • Lead the logistics team and relation with logistic partners responsible for inbound logistics, monitoring bulk deliveries from formulation sites and third parties, import and export operations, and delivery of goods to warehouses, production sites and customers; organize customer returns and returns to suppliers and production sites
  • Collaborate with customer service, supply planning and sales representatives to prepare monthly and weekly delivery plans, across sites and to final customers, finding the right balance between customer requirements and costs, grouping deliveries into specific routes and days, when required
  • Act as escalation point for customers, transport providers, warehouses, and production sites to follow-up on deliveries and to evaluate and resolve complaints related to logistic services. report and follow-up the resolution of complaints and non-conformities in relevant tools
  • Prepare logistic services to support the business plan, considering strategic drivers, seasonality requirements and yearly turnover. Evaluate changes required to support mid-term business requirements, considering 3PL or 4PL services and driving process and tool changes that support the strategy
  • Manage in-country warehouses and distribution centers, monitoring capacity, inventory, and costs. Lead the team in charge of warehouse operations in Bien Hoa site, including logistic processes required to support production operations (e.g. reception of bulk, movements from / to shop-floor, etc.)
  • Ensure stock management processes are in place in relevant warehouses, participating in periodic reconciliation processes, preparing, and running the physical inventory count and organizing destruction services when required. Timely inform about capacity shortages and manage corrective actions
  • Monitor performance of transport providers and warehouses, ensuring compliance with regulations and certifications, addressing deviations versus agreed service levels, proposing, and driving the implementation of improvements. Collaborate with HSE to run periodic audits to internal and third-party sites and providers
  • Ensure, in area of responsibility, Syngenta's full compliance with the applicable legal and regulatory framework as well as Syngenta's own legal and ethical, HSE, corporate security, risk management and corporate governance standards
  • Manage Logistic expense inline with Logistic Budget annually, monthly Logistic cost tracking report, latest Outlook cost estimation and Budget Y+1 build plan submission

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years working experience in a sizable organization
  • Previous role in logistics as responsible of delivery process, managing transport providers
  • Supplier and customer facing experience 
  • Previous experience working with TMS and 3PL or 4PL services would be an advantage
  • Previous experience as import / export or warehouse manager would be an advantage
  • Project and change management experience would be an advantage
  • Strong knowledge of logistic processes (import / export, warehouse, transport)
  • Strong knowledge of supply and logistic tools (SAP, TMS, EDWH, Excel)
  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills, end-to end thinking
  • Good understanding of customer service and planning processes
  • University graduated (chemical engineer, business school, supply chain or equivalent)
  • Certification on transport regulations related to dangerous goods would be an advantage
  • Proficient in English and Vietnamese

  • Requires travelling
  • Hybrid working: 3 days in office and 2 days WFH/week
