Control Software Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Control Software Engineer to join our Huddersfield Manufacturing Centre. We have approximately 450 employees and we are investing in our infrastructure, ways of working and capabilities of our teams to support our site growth.

• 37.5 working hours per week Mon – Fri (7:50am – 3:30pm).

• 3.5 rota days off over Christmas + hours bank of 41 hours to use throughout the year for occasional time off.

Reporting to the PCS Group Manager, you’ll be working closely with the local engineering, production, and project teams to:  

• Provide software and hardware support to our plant control systems. 

• Work with multi-disciplinary teams to safely deliver capital and revenue projects, on time, on budget and as per design intent. 

• Implement software improvements to optimise our plants processes. 

• Fault identification in conjunction with plant support teams. Diagnosing process control problems and providing solutions. 

• Ensure all changes are delivered in a controlled manner and meet corporate / legal requirements. 

• Provide technical support to the EC&I project team, local engineering team and process personnel. 

• Provide and deliver training packages to plant personnel. 

• Identify and deliver opportunities for plant improvement in terms of safety and reliability. 

• Support and coach Apprentices providing technical validation. 

• Be an integral player in the team driving change and measuring progress. 

• Control system engineering experience using Rockwell Logix 5000 including Factory Talk and/or Siemens PCS7, S7 and TIA Portal. 

• Minimum HNC in an appropriate technical discipline or equivalent experience. 

• Understanding of HSEQ standards and requirements. The ability to apply these through safe systems of work to facilitate working on a Top Tier COMAH site. 

• A working knowledge of:  

- Chemical batch process automation. 

- Functional safety systems. 

- Process engineering documentation (P&IDs & FDSs etc).
