Job description

  • Develop and execute R&D Strategy throuh leading a collaborative and effective R&D team.
  • Drive data standardization and data quality improvements.
  • Accountable for performance, priorities, and career development of the Vegetable R&D in China.
  • Collaborate with global Vegetable R&D functions to deliver global initiatives and priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with seed regulations across the region to secure Syngenta FTO and germplasm IP.
  • Manage resource plan and budget in line with global guidelines.
  • Lead investment strategy and asset footprint for the region.
  • Drive external R&D collaborations and lead the application and implementation of R&D projects.

Company Description

Syngenta Group China is hiring a Head of Vegetables-Seeds Development to be based in Beijing.  In this role, you will ead the product development activities in in China and ensure those meet the customer needs. The role includes managing all seed operations and trialing activities while adhering to the data quality standards of Syngenta vegetable seeds. In addition, the person will be responsible for optimizing the product portfolio of pre-commercial stages to ensure the performance and adoption of new products launched.


Qualifications

Critical knowledge

  • Deep knowledge/ experience in plant breeding processes and product development.
  • Commercial background (product management, pre-commercial development) – advantage.

Critical experience

  • 10 years of experience in the seeds industry, preferably in R&D environment.
  • Proven record of demonstrating people leadership in cross-functional environment.
  • Leading change across teams and functions through clear communication, goals, and timelines.

Critical capabilities

  • Communicate results and progress in a concise way through data and analytics to promote decision-making.
  • Ability to lead and motivate others during stress times to achieve high performance.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal day-today supervision. Adjust workload plans and resource allocations based on new direction in a changing environment.
  • Ability to manage resources to achieve objectives but remain within budget.
  • Fluent English
