Role purpose

In this particular role, you will work to ensure the deployment of the Business Sustainability strategy in Latin America. You will co-ordinate the design and delivery of a BS agenda as part of the LATAM Business Sustainability Leadership Team, working closely with the BS leaders at all levels throughout the organization to create and deploy an agenda, projects, communication materials and other elements of a holistic and coherent BS journey. 

You will support creation, maintenance, and execution of LATAM Business Sustainability strategy, providing support for manage-ment and execution of the Regional BS agenda through engagement with the BS areas and LATAM Territories. Furthermore you will collaborate with cross-cutting Syngenta teams to advance Syngenta priorities in the crop protection, seeds, and sustainability space and provide support to the LATAM BS head. In support of the BSLT, you be responsible to lead the designing, structuring, implementation and management of the BS agenda, while is leading the management of the financial and administrative matters of the LATAM Business Sustainability unit.

Accountabilities

  • Be an active member of the LATAM Business Sustainability Leadership Team (LATAM BSLT);
  • Steer the LATAM BSLT in the designing and implementation of the LATAM BS strategy, ensuring strong team commit-ment;
  • Drive and support the BS strategic planning process and enable alignment at all levels of Sustainability.
  • Create oversight and quality control of BS strategy, agenda, projects, budget, and deliverables. 
  • Engage with other Syngenta areas identifying interfaces with the BS strategy and new opportunities to develop cross-functional agendas related to BS.
  • Shape and run LATAM BS overall governance model (Business Plan Review, Special Attention Meetings, BSLT meet-ings, Risk Matrix, BPR BR/Latam, People Agenda, etc) 
  • Support the BS head, providing insights, reports, and consolidated information about the BS agenda, underpinning her/his BS representation at the Leadership teams and meetings (e.g. RLT, TLT, SLT, BULT, CPLT, global BS teams);
  • Promote collaboration among BS areas (Communication, Regulatory, RIG, SRB) and Territories (Brazil, LAN, LAS), through common agendas and projects;
  • Organize the LATAM BS townhalls;
  • Oversee expenses and budget to help the organization optimize costs and benefits;
  • Manage BS main contracts;
  • Manage the BS Operations Team.

Qualifications

Critical knowledge

  • Fluent in English and having skills in other languages (Portuguese and/or Spanish);
  • Very good leadership skills, ability to lead teams of peers across functional and geographic boundaries;
  • Strategic thinking and strong negotiation skills in a complex and unpredictable environment;
  • Proven track record of working effectively in senior cross-functional teams;
  • Well-developed project management skills;
  • Broad understanding of LATAM regulatory, political and societal developments in areas of Sustainability, CP and Seeds.
  • Familiarity with all business functions including CPD, HR, finance, supply chain and IT
  • Good with numbers and financial planning and management;
  • Excellent organizational and leadership ability;
  • Successful implementation of new ways of working / operating models into complex organizations;
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully inspire, influence and motivate colleagues across functional boundaries, with or without line management responsibility, including senior leaders;
  • Ability to navigate through a matrix-based and complex organization;
  • Innovative mindset able to deal with ambiguity funneling it into tangible deliverables

Critical experience

  • Significant experience gained through working in Global, Regional or Country dimensions
  • Project management

  • Fluency in English, Portuguese and Spanish
