Purpose* 

  • This role serves as the cornerstone for the implementation, deployment, harmonization, coordination, and sustained management of applied analytics and decision science capabilities for the APAC SD.
  • The role translates the business needs for analytics and decision science, as delivered by the regional organization, into product proposals that can be prioritized and operationalized.
  • The role ensures transparency, connectivity, and alignment to global initiatives, other regions, and regulatory or governance functions with respect to data, and analytics and data sciences capabilities; providing mitigation and transparency when alignment is not possible or has been broken.

Accountabilities* 

  • Supervise the identification or the definition of a coherent set of analytics and decision science capabilities that service the requirements of the APAC organization
  • Lead a dedicated team to internally develop and deploy capabilities where needed; ensure readiness for and effective deployment of globally deployed capabilities
  • Manage risks, issues, and mitigations in the regional analytics and decision science domain
  • Ensure alignment of products and solutions in APAC to technical, regulatory, and Seeds Development standards, frameworks, and platforms. Provide planning and mitigative action where alignment or connectivity is compromised or lost
  • Create an effective and self-sustaining Applied Analytics and Decision Sciences function within the region
  • Drive uptake of data governance, regulatory, and quality standards within the region
  • Manage stakeholders outside of Analytics & Data Sciences in the pipeline transparency domain
  • Preemptively connect to- and get ahead of global initiatives (e.g. delivered through DSET, Product Delivery, Discovery Breeding)

  • Ability to lead a small team of experts
  • Ability to set direction, influence and manage diverse stakeholders towards the creation and achievement of delivery-oriented objectives
  • Application of the Agile principles and various Agile frameworks toward solution delivery
  • Excellence in communication, being able to use different styles to build trust and build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and leaders
  • Ability to learn quickly to understand the needs of the regional organization
  • Analytical thinking, data and process driven approach to problem solving
  • Design thinking and the ability to operate in complex, matrixed organizations and informal networks

 


Qualifications

Experience required for the job*

  • Three to five years of experience with program and project management (classical and Agile)
  • 10 or more years experience in data science, analytics, and data visualization
  • Experience implementing or supporting a transformational change efforts
  • Experience working with business processes and diverse teams across business units and geography

Minimum education and critical knowledge required for the job*

  • PhD or Masters’ Degree in Biological Sciences, Genetics, Computer Science, Mathematics or equivalent experience
  • General experience in or understanding of the plant breeding and seeds development processes
  • Experience in leading individuals and teams
  • Operational excellence and process management or equivalent experience
  • Experience in general administrative and organizational activities and procedures
  • Proficient interpersonal, influencing and communication skills
  • Ability to think and work in complex, corporate structures
  • Working globally, across functions and crops

Experience to be gained in the job

  • Leadership and coordination of specialists managing assets required to drive business-critical, data-driven decisions
