Agronomy and Technical Services Lead - South Luzon

Job description

This role is instrumental in translating complex agronomic concepts into actionable insights, thereby enhancing the commercial team's effectiveness and ultimately driving customer success through improved crop productivity and sustainability.

Accountabilities

The Field Crops Agronomy Lead serves as the primary agronomic authority for the Commercial team, providing comprehensive expertise on all aspects of agronomy and product knowledge for hybrid field crop products. As a techno-commercial subject matter expert within the business zone, this role is pivotal in

Capability Building:

  • Enhancing the agronomic competence of the Zone Business team
  • Conducting in-depth training for commercial field teams to effectively address product-related issues, with a focus on agronomic performance of seed and trait products

Agrotechnology Transfer:

  • Spearheading a continuous agrotechnology transfer program to empower grower-facing teams with a thorough understanding of crop products
  • Facilitating product knowledge up-skilling, emphasizing New Product Introductions (NPIs), relevant Proof of Technologies (POTs), and agronomic service platforms that drive grower-level productivity improvements

Customer Engagement:

  • Supporting Grower teams in establishing and auditing Learning Centers as key venues for enhanced customer engagement
  • Collaborating with other functions to identify and leverage critical touchpoints between Agronomy and Commercial teams, fostering improved product and technology appreciation based on their value to farmers                 

Technical Support 

  • Providing expert guidance on complex agronomic issues and product performance queries
  • Developing and implementing strategies to optimize field crop performance across diverse environmental conditions

Innovation and Adaptation:

  • Translating cutting-edge research into practical, field-applicable solutions through establishment of Fields of Innovation and Technology (FIT) centers

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Bridging the gap between R&D, Product Development, and Commercial teams to ensure seamless integration of new products and technologies
  • Facilitating effective communication between technical and non-technical stakeholder 

Data-Driven Decision Making:

  • Analyzing field performance data to inform product positioning and agronomic recommendations
  • Utilizing advanced analytics to predict and mitigate potential agronomic challenges

Sustainable Agriculture Advocacy:

  • Promoting sustainable farming practices that align with the company's environmental stewardship goals
  • Educating teams and customers on the long-term benefits of sustainable agronomic practices

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agronomy, Plant Science, Agricultural Engineering, or related fields.
  • Experience: 2+ years in technical agronomy, product development, or technical marketing in the seed or crop protection industry.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in field trial data interpretation and scientific communication.
  • Knowledge of field crops agronomy and any adjunct technologies and freedom to operate principles
  • Ability to translate/articulate technical insights into commercial messaging
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work cross-functionally with marketing, sales, agronomy, and external partners.
  • Travel Requirements:   >70% within geographical scope
  • All applicants must be eligible to work anywhere in the Philippines
