About Us
Through leading innovations, we help farmers around the world meet the challenge of feeding a growing population and taking care of our planet. We are currently seeking an Agronomic Trait Scientist for the Seeds Development team. The full-time position is located onsite, in Beijing, China. As an Agronomic Trait Scientist, you will be focused on designing, managing, and providing technical expertise and knowledge of traits for major crops like corn and soybeans, in China and globally.

You will help meet the world’s most pressing needs by:

  • Leading complex, results-oriented research requiring scientific creativity, innovative thinking, organization, and collaborative skills.

Accountabilities 

  • Coordinate and perform experiments to dissect traits, develop hypotheses, identify, and evaluate leads efficacy in greenhouse and field environments
  • Interact with scientists within China and globally to ensure critical milestones are met
  • Maintain accurate experimental records, in compliance with Syngenta Health Safety and Environment guidelines
  • Manage internal and external collaboration

Qualifications

Requirements

  • PhD in Plant Genetics, Physiology, Molecular Biology, or related field; post doctorate experience preferred
  • 5+ years of professional experience in agronomic traits
  • Experience in agronomic traits including lead discovery and evaluation for major crops (corn, soy and rice, preferred) with proven record of success in publications or patents
  • Experience in experimental design to understand traits under experimental conditions in the lab, greenhouse, and field
  • Bilingual: Mandarin and English

Preferred Requirements

  • Broad knowledge of bioinformatics, genomics, and biotechnology
  • Experience in working with a matrix organization (cross-functional, cross-sites, and cross-business) and in a technical environment
  • Demonstrated analytical and communication skills in interpreting and presenting study results
