Job description

ROLE PURPOSE    

  • Represent and lead the Syngenta business and staff in the Country in order to achieve profitable growth and create an industry leading, sustainable position for Syngenta.
  • Assume external relationship responsibilities for the Country with local regulators and industry stakeholders.
  • Execute sales campaigns and achieve agreed sales targets in accordance with the strategies and objectives set for the Country and Crops.

ACCOUNTABILITIES 

Business Accountabilities

  • Contribute to the Go to Market and Channel strategies for the Country.
  • Develop field force effectiveness measures based on standard indicators.
  • Define sales targets based on current strategy and business plans.
  • Develop zone plans and Key Account plans, including channels, influencers and other demand creators.
  • Measure field force performance and develop corrective/improvement actions.
  • Map knowledge and skill set of field force against current and future customer allocation and product portfolio.
  • Develop field force capability based on MaSE and Agronomy excellence principles.
  • Proactively support the new product introduction process.

Overarching accountabilities

  • Work closely with Marketing to ensure that appropriate customer segmentation exists and appropriate offers are defined and delivered.
  • Work closely with Crop Protection Development (CPD) to ensure successful trials and commercial demos.
  • Act as an active member of the Sales community and contribute to the optimization and selective alignment of Syngenta’s commercial policies and price structure.
  • Ensure that all relevant Syngenta processes and policies are well understood and implemented by the country team and, where necessary, by customers.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE requirements, local legislation and competition law.
  • Manage country team according to Syngenta HR policies, processes and tools, ensuring the appropriate level of resources and their engagement
  • Promote the image of Syngenta, representing the Company with legal authorities,  industrial associations and all relevant institutional entities.
  • Actively develop relationships with outside bodies that have major influence on country business e. g external markets for products, international marketing boards etc.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & CAPABILITIES

• Degree in Agronomy or related field, MBA/ MSc added advantage

• Knowing the distribution channels in Zimbabwe

• Deep knowledge of crop protection market in Zimbabwe

• In depth technical knowledge and experience of crop protection products

• 7-10 years commercial experience

• Delivers distinctive value proposition to key accounts

• Ability to understand customers’ needs, challenges, and opportunities and to bring solutions that address them better than competitors and build strong relationships.

• Selling and negotiation skills are key
