Summary

A video editor uses digital software to organize video and sound files into a final product. A video editor is required to possess both technical and creative abilities to be able to effectively create the vision clients have in mind. Individuals in this position usually have experience working with creative software and have a keen eye for creative digital design. The individual should display foresight to create engaging and flexible content that can easily be edited for different mediums, for example social, YouTube, and websites. The individual will also bring experience of best practice in video creation and be able to provide advice to other Syngenta teams. Additionally, experience with AI tools for image and video generation is highly desirable to enhance the creative process and improve efficiency.

A bachelor's degree in film production or related field is generally required. Additionally, the ability to work within several software programs (such as the Adobe Suite, Final Cut Pro, etc.) is considered an important skill in relation to the position. Being able to communicate clearly with clients and understand their goals enables a video editor to bring their concepts to life. Employees who are passionate about digital media and creative content development tend to excel in this position.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meet with clients to establish the desired feel and look for the video to be created.
  • Establish a clear understanding of the storyline and purpose of the video's creation.
  • Establish a clear understanding of client’s brand guidelines to be further instilled in the video creation.
  • Create an initial proposed storyboard draft of the video to present to clients and receive approval before beginning to digitally alter video.
  • Gather and transfer all forms of media into editing software and ensure each was updated in the correct format.
  • Operate computer editing systems and equipment used for video media and effects.
  • Improve video and sound quality using various video software.
  • Edit video to include preselected music, interviews, voice over, sound clips and other important aspects of the project.
  • Ensure the correct formatting and presentation for finalized videos according to client's specifications.
  • Utilize AI tools for translations,  image and video generation to enhance the creative process and improve efficiency.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified above.
  • High school diploma or GED. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. A Bachelor's degree in film editing or related degree would be preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to effectively manage time and schedules.
  • Ability to multitask and work toward several milestones on various projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to understand the desired outcome of a project when meeting with clients and the ability to bring them to life.
  • Very good understanding of web specific media formats - used on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.
  • Professional mastery of video and audio editing software and programs.
  • Creative experience in filmmaking and videography.
  • Experience editing various video projects and inserting sound effects, music and transitions.
  • Proficient in creating concept/mood boards and other visual representations of planned edits for video projects.
  • Excellent communication skills are required to have a solid understanding of project scope and implementation.
  • Ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders globally.
  • Experience with AI tools for translations,  image and video generation, such as ChatGPT, Claude, Midjourney, Dall-E,Runway, Synthesia, others .
