Job description

We have an excellent opportunity for a Utilities Engineering Manager to join our Utilities & Infrastructure team based in Huddersfield. In this vital role, you will ensure engineering & maintenance Work Management processes are adhered to and that assets & maintenance processes across the department are efficient, reliable & meet the requirements of both statutory regulations and the Syngenta HSE management system. The role will also include cost centre and duty holder accountability for utility assets.

In addition, your team will provide effective out of hours mechanical & electrical shift support as well as specialist services to manufacturing plant customers that include reliability of rotating equipment and alarm and trip compliance.

To provide this service you will head up a team that is made up of Asset Engineering, Maintenance Planning & Maintenance Supervision leads as well as electrical & mechanical technicians working day and shift patterns. You will also ensure engineering & maintenance standards & guidance are adhered to in utility areas operated by our contract partners.

Qualifications and required experience

  • Demonstratable experience in leadership & management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Engineering or Science based degree / higher education with alignment and membership to a professional engineering institution.
  • Strong experience maintaining & operating an extensive and broad collection of utility assets including generation, transmission and use.
  • Extensive knowledge and broad experience of Utilities including Municipal & Abstracted Water, Electricity, Nitrogen, Natural Gas, Compressed Air, Steam & Effluent Treatment.
  • Project, Maintenance & Contract management knowledge.
  • Excellent communicator. Able to demonstrate to stakeholder’s progress in the areas of utility provision and production support and link that progress to site objectives.
