Trademark Paralegal (m/f/d)

The Syngenta Legal team is currently seeking a Trademark Paralegal (full time 100%) to join our team at our headquarters in Basel. We are flexible on the experience level (Junior to Senior). The purpose of the role is to assist relevant Attorneys with regard to all Trade Mark aspects, conduct and evaluate Trade Mark searches, produce reports, prepare cost estimates, gather use evidence material, answer routine Trade Mark queries from internal business partners, draft trademark agreements, prepare any necessary documents to define the filing strategy in the most cost efficient way. Besides, you will monitor competitors Trade Mark activity, preparing summary case background for Attorney review, instruct and defend Trade Mark Oppositions or cancellation proceedings.

Your responsibilities:  

  • Monitor Trade Mark Applications, Prosecution and Enforcement correspondence is prepared to the required quality and submitted within the required time limits
  • Provide effective management of diary systems to monitor and meet deadlines
  • Review if Key Data is accurately entered into the IP Management System by the Docketing Team
  • Maintain awareness of and communicate to others within the Team when significant changes in procedural or legal requirements are announced by the Trade Mark Registries.

Qualifications

What are we looking for:

  • Trademark paralegal or equivalent recognized qualification, or broad work experience as a Trade Mark Assistant/Paralegal in private practice or in an in house IP Department
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English, any additional language a plus.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills with strong interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Capability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Willingness and ability to take on an increasingly complex workload
  • Ability to adapt to the changing environment to achieve excellence in delivery
