The Vegetables Seeds department of Syngenta seeds seeks a motivated colleague for the fulltime position of: Technology Scientist - Seed Enhancement

 

Into Action

You are going to work in the Seed Crops & Technology OPEX team. You will actively engage with R&D, Operations, Farms, Sales and Marketing to leverage insights and learnings across the organization production. Your role will consist of  collaborating closely with teams in production of seeds, young plant production, seed enhancement and marketing on the various projects in the research program to generate new crop culture information, growing protocols, innovations, and to validate product claims.

 

The Challenge

You are responsible for leading seed enhancement product portfolio in own science area and supporting projects aligned with business needs. Agreeing project definition and targets with stakeholders, shape experimental programs accordingly and define appropriate resources and skills.

Key in this role, is to Provide scientific leadership for Syngenta in field of expertise via maintenance of a high level of scientific expertise and credibility both internally and with external research organizations. Demonstrate scientific excellence within area of expertise.

Furthermore, you will provide a mentoring role to trial specialists, to set an excellent example as a leading scientist in close collaboration with the Technology Innovation team.

Additionally, you will communicate the technical trial results effectively throughout the organization to enable key business decisions and training to key users and sponsors the upscaling and implementation of research output in field of expertise.

You will be an active member of the scientific community by networking (e.g., research institutes, universities, scientific societies and Interest Groups / Lobby Associations), participating in scientific conferences, and reviewing scientific literature and support annual budget projections and leading/providing input to drive business case requirements for research programs and projects.


Qualifications

Your Profile            

You have an M.S. in Plant Science, Horticulture or other related fields and in addition to that, you have experience in experimental design, interpretation, and summary.

You have strong experience with Technical Communication to diverse audiences (scientific journals, trade magazines or training manuals etc and you have a solid Working experience in Greenhouse Operations, Live-Good Production and Horticulture Sciences.

You must be able to understand both R&D and the Commercial grower processes and we expect you to have at least 5 years of working experience in a Horticulture Research Environment.
