To support that challenge, the Seeds Research Technology Development team is currently seeking a Research & Development intern in Research Triangle Park, NC. Through leading innovations, we help farmers around the world meet the challenge of feeding a growing population and taking care of our planet. As an intern in the Technology Development team your goal will be to develop a fit-for-purpose digital PCR method to genotype pollen from important crops. You will work with state-of-the art technology at our RTP location and have access to the expertise of scientists from our global sites. You will be expected to formulate and test your own hypotheses, summarize your data for clear communication, and solicit feedback from other scientists in our team. Your success will have a significant impact in the development of new crop varieties.

Accountabilities: 

  • Successfully integrate into a team that coordinates and/or performs lab and greenhouse activities to deliver quality data and research solutions.   
  • Develop proficiency in molecular biology, especially digital PCR, by training with one of our dPCR experts.
  • Timely and complete reporting of data, reports, and summaries 

Duration: May 2026 – August 2026

Qualifications

Education & Experience: 

  • Currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD degree from an accredited university in Plant Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field.
  • Must be a current student continuing education upon completion of the internship term (Graduation date of December 2026 or AFTER)
  • Fluent in English.
  • All applicants must be eligible to work in the US.

Requirements: 

  • After initial onboarding and technical training the successful candidate must be able to work independently to become familiar with relevant literature and develop experimental approaches.
  • At least two years experience in molecular biology (PCR a must, tissue culture techniques a plus) willing to spend at least 20% of the time in greenhouse environment, and experience summarizing data for communication purposes.
