Purpose:

  • Drive the Crop Protection Development (CPD) EAME Soil Health strategic agenda as part of Sustainable Portfolio Development
  • Support the new Global Product Biology teams in delivering the Soil and Plant Health (SPH) strategy and the AgroEcosystem Technology Platform (ATP)
  • Be the soil technical expert in a cross-functional Soil Health work team which generates viable business opportunities to develop desired and feasible soil health products and services to farmers, embedded in the region’s strategic targets on CP, Biologics, Services, and Seeds

Accountabilities:

Drive the CPD EAME Soil Health strategic agenda:

  • Actively engage with CPD and adjacent functions to investigate, structure, map, and enable sharing of existing technology, methodology and scientific knowhow to an appropriate extend
  • Support targeted development and evaluation of new tools and methodology in close collaboration with e.g., Digital, Research, Precision Application, etc.
  • Develop the CPD soil health network by connecting it to other technical functions working in soil health and by proposing and enabling investigation of new technology
  • Partner with Soil Health Research Global to achieve coordinated testing of innovative soil health solutions
  • Identify CPD capability gaps and propose ways of building these capabilities to pivot our future innovation contributing to soil health

Support the new Global Product Biology teams in delivering the Soil and Plant Health strategy and the AgroEcosystem Technology Platform in EAME:

  • Collaborate with fellow teams in Global Product Biology and Soil Technical Managers in the other regions, to build corporate soil health capability and exchange on technical expertise supporting a system-based approach for farm resilience

Be the soil technical expert in a cross-functional Soil Health work team:

  • Bring up-to-date knowledge and informed foresight on soil health related technology
  • Provide thought leadership on new business opportunities based on new technologies
  • Examine technical feasibility of project proposals, provide respective working hypotheses and steer their efficient testing
  • Support initiatives to access or generate relevant data on soil health, from within Syngenta (R&D, Product Safety, Marketing, Digital, etc.) or external
  • Contribute to building soil health capabilities in our Development and Data/Digital teams

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Master or preferably PHD studies in a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience
  • Fluency in English language
  • Expertise in soil in the context of sustainable agriculture, i.e., soil properties, functionalities, threats, biodiversity, management practices, ecosystem services, carbon, etc., incl. new methodologies for measuring, emerging data sources, networks, and key players
  • Solid knowledge on regenerative agriculture principles and their practical application and impact at farm level
  • Expertise in handling (plan, generate, evaluate) scientific data and knowledge on data networks
  • Ability to harness diversity from a multi -function, -geography, -experience, -culture team
  • Good stakeholder management and influencing skills
