Purpose:

The Technical Lead Biostimulants Europe is the key technical development point of contact for biostimulants to strengthen the Syngenta biostimulants portfolio offer through in-house and 3rd party developments and collaborations, in line with the commercial strategy. 

As the Technical Lead Biostimulants Europe, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of Regional Technical Managers focused on biostimulants products and technology development. You will provide technical guidance, support, and strategic direction to ensure the successful development, implementation, and commercialization of biostimulants solutions within region Europe. You will drive capability development in CPD Europe, and exchange knowledge with other functions internally and 3rd parties. Your leadership will play a pivotal role in driving growth, enhancing customer satisfaction, and fostering innovation in the biostimulants market. 

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead and manage a team of Regional Technical Managers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure their success. Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment that encourages innovation, knowledge sharing, and professional growth. 
  • Technical Strategy and Planning: Develop and execute the technical strategy for biostimulants products within your region, aligned with organizational goals and market trends. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, marketing, and sales, to identify opportunities, set objectives, and establish action plans for successful product development and commercialization. 
  • Regional Technical Support: Provide technical support to the in-country technical teams, assisting with complex technical inquiries, troubleshooting, and customer escalations. Ensure timely and effective resolution of technical issues to maintain customer satisfaction and build strong relationships with key stakeholders. 
  • Market Analysis and Insights: Stay informed about market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities within Europe and beyond. Conduct market analysis to identify growth opportunities and potential gaps in the biostimulants market. Provide insights and recommendations to senior management for strategic decision-making and product portfolio development. 
  • Collaboration and Partnerships: Foster collaborations and partnerships with key stakeholders, including research institutions, universities, and industry associations. Engage in collaborative projects and initiatives to drive innovation, knowledge exchange, and technology transfer in the biostimulants field. 
  • Training and Development: Develop training programs and materials to enhance the technical capabilities of the Regional Technical Managers and other cross funtional teams. Conduct training sessions and workshops to ensure a deep understanding of biostimulants products, their applications, and the latest scientific advancements. 
  • Reporting and Performance Management: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for the Regional Technical Managers and monitor their performance against set targets. Provide regular performance feedback, conduct performance reviews, and identify development opportunities to maximize individual and team effectiveness. 

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree / PhD level in agronomy, plant science, biology or a related field
  • Experience (4+ years) in the biostimulants industry, with a strong technical background in biostimulants products and their applications
  • Proven leadership and team management experience, with the ability to inspire and motivate a geographically dispersed team
  • Strong understanding of regional agricultural practices, crop production systems, and market dynamics
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Analytical mindset, with the ability to analyze market data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
  • Strategic thinking and ability to develop and execute regional technical strategies aligned with organizational goals
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Passion for sustainable agriculture and a commitment to driving innovation in the biostimulants industry
