We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer to join Syngenta in Grangemouth. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining Information Systems and Manufacturing Execution Systems across the sites AI & FFP production facilities. You will work with a variety of systems/coding languages to link production from top to bottom, allowing you to build an extremely broad and varied skillset.

Accountabilities

  • Deliver a key automation service to multiple business units (AI and FPP).
  • Utilise in-depth knowledge of SQL server to design and maintain databases, ensuring data integrity and security.
  • Develop custom applications using C#, HTML and Java to extend the functionality of our manufacturing execution systems.
  • Design and implement user-friendly web interfaces and dashboards for monitoring and controlling manufacturing processes.
  • Provide technical support and training to end-users on system functionalities and best practices.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies related to IS and MES to propose innovative solutions and improvements.
  • Follow safe systems of work for all daily activities, providing the highest HSEQ standards.

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge and experience with SQL server, including database design, query optimisation, and performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of AVEVA System Platform or similar products is desirable.
  • Proficiency in C#, HTML or Java for developing custom applications and web interfaces, with a strong understanding of web design principles and user experience best practices
  • Hardware repairs and maintenance knowledge.
  • Extensive experience with MES including design, development and maintenance is desirable
  • Knowledge of networking, communications and cyber security measures is desirable.
  • Familiarity with InTouch, Siemens Tia Portal, DeltaV, MobileFrame and virtualisation technologies is a plus.
  • Degree in computer science, automation, engineering or associated discipline, or equivalent experience.

Syngenta's Grangemouth Manufacturing Centre is one of our two award-winning manufacturing sites in the UK. The site was founded in 1919 and today employs nearly 400 skilled people in a variety of roles that include manufacturing, engineering, scientific and production support. Our goal is to operate “safely, reliably and cost effectively” and to help growers protect their crops and increase their yield.

At Syngenta Grangemouth we have four plants dedicated to active ingredient (AI) manufacture, and one finished product formulation and packaging plant with the most recent facility opening in May 2010.
