Role Purpose:

  • Manage Syngenta’s stewardship activities in Pakistan to ensure the safe handling (storage, distribution, use, and, disposal) of Syngenta’s products by farmers, to deliver Syngenta’s stewardship commitments and, to support the maintenance and growth of Syngenta’s Crop Protection assets in both countries. Provide advice to the business on the stewardship of our CP assets, on how to proactively manage and respond to stewardship issues and incidents. Provide advice to the business on stewardship to create a value chain.
  • Ensure Syngenta’s internal and external stewardship reporting obligations are met, including the Adverse Health Incident Database (AHIDB), the Good Growth Plan, and other obligations as required.
  • Assist the CP Country Regulatory and Stewardship manager to liaise with Government / Regulatory Authorities, industry, and Non-Government Organizations to ensure appropriate representation of the company position.

Accountabilities

  • Stewardship advice – support the country Regulatory & Stewardship manager in providing advice to the business and key distribution partner(s), on the stewardship of our current and future CP assets, and propose innovative stewardship programs. Coordinate stewardship reviews associated with new products and Chemical Product extensions and prepare and monitor Individual Product Stewardship Plans as required. 
  • Guide Syngenta’s response to stewardship incidents – coordinate and prepare Syngenta’s responses to stewardship incidents involving our CP assets, including monitoring PQ poisoning cases from the agreed and assigned hospitals
  • Stewardship training – develop quality stewardship resources, and deliver these through train-the-trainer activities involving Syngenta’s field force and partners, to drive improved stewardship among users of Syngenta’s products.  To organize Doctor Training on Paraquat times to times to increase their knowledge and experience on paraquat treatment.
  • Coordinate & report country stewardship activities - coordinate proactive stewardship initiatives around grower safe use training (in support of the Good Growth Plan), medical stewardship, and fulfill the associated internal and external reporting obligations, including AHI database, CCI/SSAG annual reporting, and grower community database
  • Ability to disseminate complex issues and data into clear messages and everyday language
  • Ability to demonstrate good attention to the details
  • Good communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills in the local language and English
  • Ability to work through one’s efforts, independently
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work across different functions
  • Ability to lead and influence people without having line management responsibility.

Qualifications

  • University degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field like science, agriculture, or biology
  • A basic knowledge of CP products and stewardship activities, FAO Code of Conduct, and related legislative framework,  or demonstrated ability to develop such knowledge.
  • Excellent communication influencing and interpersonal skills
  • 3-5 years experience in the Agrochemical business.
  • Experience in field trial, Research & Development, or sales of pesticides.
  • Able to conduct and manage training with farmers and technical seminars with staff and key industries and government.
  • Experience n technical training, ideally in product knowledge training and pesticide-safe use training.
