SPR Research Associate

Role purpose

• Ensure the HSE policies adherence in all the SPR team activities
• Field management of the Parental characterization and Agronomical research trials for Türkiye in close collaboration with the SPR Scientist of the country.
• Hand labours management for parental characterization & production trials
• Coordinate the correct execution of the SPR Protocols in the trialing in Türkiye and lead at EAME level the protocol(s) assigned
• Build in collaboration with the SPR Scientist, the Technical Report of the project(s) led and share the results with the stakeholders.

Accountabilities

Continue growing the HSE culture in all the SPR Türkiye process: Following the corporative and country regulations

SPR experiments management to ensure and improve corn seed production yield & planning

• Field selection: Farmer/Land/sub-contractor arrangement, contract follow-up and payment validation
• Protocols follow-up and their rigorous establishment and data collection.
• In collaboration with the farmers /SPR Scientist/ 3rd part companies, perform the agronomical management requested (soil preparation; irrigation; planting; insecticides, herbicides, fungicides sprays; tillage and harvest) to have high quality trials.
• Ensure the Trials Quality are into the KPI’s requested by SPR EAME Syngenta.
• Take preventive actions to mitigate potential risks that can affect the quality of the trials.
• Data analysis: In close collaboration with the SPR Scientist deliver in due time the phenotyping data and Technical Reports (with their statistical analyses and recommendation based on experiments and bibliographic reviews).
• Provide the data and keep an active participation on the Seed Production Plan and Production Instruction for Türkiye.
• Support implementation of new technologies in experimentation (data records, phenotyping, imagery...) and production (irrigation, imagery, fertilization, machinery, crop protection.).
• Report to SPR Corn EAME Lead: regularly individual and team update on activity advancement as
• HSE incidents and trainings, trials status, mitigation actions, project status update, customer interactions.
• Adopt and implement a Continuous Improvement culture with support of EAME Seeds Production
• Research colleagues using Lean Six Sigma methodologies.

Knowledge, experience & capabilities

Critical knowledge

• An engineer degree (mandatory) / Master or Ph.D. (desirable)/ related to any Agricole or Biological subject.
• Proficient experience in farming / precision ag activities
• Proficient skills on design of experiments and statistics
• Proficient skill to communicate in English (verbal and written)
• Basic knowledge of Seed Production Practices and Business

Critical experience

• Experience of farming, precision agriculture or breeding on corn and/or sunflower desirable
• Proficient in data bases management (Office pack)
• Leadership skills to build a team to support the operations
