Role purpose:

  • Scale-up a new soil-health service business within Syngenta in Hungary and neighboring countries by leading the overall business development, starting with the existing InterraScan soil scanning service and associated agronomic advisory
  • to collaborate with SYN internal functions to synergize soil-related services with other digital offers and SYN products
  • Responsibility for fine-tuning country-specific operating models and deliver the soil health service KPI’s and the soil health service P&L

Accountabilities:

  • Develop country-specific business plans, infrastructure and teams
  • Continual assessment of the competitive landscape and market trends in soil testing, -mapping and precision application of soil-inputs
  • Accountable for delivering and continuously improving the end-to-end service process flow, from order taking to service results delivery
  • Stakeholder management to ensure that the soil health service offer is aligned with the objectives and priorities of the commercial organization
  • Work with the BU commercial organization to fine-tune the Go-To-Market (GTM) strategy and implement the agreed approach
  • Develop and execute the marketing strategy and -tactics together with the BU- and country teams
  • Management of the soil health commercial budget with responsibility for developing the resource plan and recruitments to deliver the health service offer
  • Line management of the BU soil health team incl. service scheduling, field operator activity, quality control and soil analysis laboratories contracting
  • Provide customer first level support on the service, answer queries and manage channel, partner or grower complaints
  • Create strong customer relationships and ensure continual feed-back from growers and channel partners to improve and evolve the soil health service offer and maximize customer satisfaction
  • Report back country activities to regional Soil Health Service Head including need for potential product developments, service delivery issues, procurement needs, etc
  • Collaborate with SYN Teams in Seeds and Crop Protection to leverage soil health services with the existing SYN product portfolios

Qualifications

Critical Knowledge/skills/experience:       

  • Soil health / Crop agronomy technical knowledge base – 5 years experience minimum
  • Experience in soil testing services and/or expertise in crop nutrition / fertilizer advisory
  • Knowledge of variable rate- / precision application machinery
  • Entrepreneurial business acumen, ability to create new business models and GTM approaches
  • Track record of building or scaling successful new businesses  
  • Marketing / Commercial excellence experience
  • Strong team spirit, building work relationships and collaborate in complex cross-functional organizations. Skilled in stakeholder management
  • Ability to cope with ambiguity and align various interests towards a common goal
  • Lead small teams to success, ability to motivate a team of field based operators
  • Solution oriented person focusing on results / positive outcomes. Ability to take practical decisions and resolve issues effectively. Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong affinity to agricultural digital platforms. Knowledge of Saleforce.com CRM system
  • Fluent in English and Hungarian
