Job description

Purpose of the role 

Overall legal and business accountability for all enterprise aspects of the Kaisten manufacturing center, including HSEQS, profit and loss, strategic directions and alignment, operations, staffing, budgeting, supply, and customer services. Providing leadership and change management skills to drive the performance of the site within the global AI manufacturing organization. 

The Site Manager oversees management of all areas of manufacturing to produce products and direct activities so that approved products are manufactured safely, on schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives.

Accountabilities

  • Ensuring excellence in HSEQ performance for Kaisten site. Developing and monitoring progress against general site improvement plans (including sustainability transformation roadmap).
  • Driving long-term competitiveness through site transformation and productivity improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring best practices or industry standards are implemented and maintained in departments; driving operational discipline, clarity of objectives, robust budget setting and cost control, learning curve development plans.
  • Developing and executing the site strategy aligned to the company strategy, while leveraging the unique value proposition of the Kaisten Site manufacturing team & infrastructure (incl. services providers and 3rd party relationship).
  • Providing a strategic direction for disposition of Kaisten Site manufacturing assets for the longer term.
  • Implementing agreed tactics to support the overall company strategy; working with asset strategy, manufacturing excellence, Technology & Sourcing, Direct Procurement, Process technology, Supply Chain, Swiss and Global Manufacturing teams.
  • Being the local sponsor and accountable for the successful implementation of global projects on site.
  • Leading the site's people agenda, promoting diversity, inclusion, and growth opportunities. Developing career processes and talent pools, collaborating with Swiss and global sites. Ensuring robust succession planning for Kaisten and beyond.
  • Fostering positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including site and Union representatives, BASF Kaisten, public authorities, and the community, to ensure effective management and cooperation.

Qualifications

  •  MS/BS in chemistry, industrial engineering, or other engineering sciences, or a 5-year technical degree in a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in production within the agrochemical or related industries.
  • Ideally several years of experience in leading operations in a manufacturing environment in the processing industry.
  • Experience working with chemical manufacturing-based technology, processes, and principles
  • Fully computer literate.
  • Excellent interpersonal and people-management skills.
  • Effective communication, conflict resolution, contingency planning, and problem-solving (root cause analysis) skills.
  • Strong command of English and proficient German skills (minimum B2 level), enabling effective communication in our diverse, international work environment.
  • Excellent quick decision-making abilities.
