Senior Scientist

We have a vacancy for an experienced, talented and enthusiastic scientist to join our Physiology Quality Control (QC) Development team, an important part of the Global Vegetables Quality Control organization that ensures the most appropriate quality testing methods and technologies are implemented in Syngenta's QC labs worldwide.

The challenge

As a Senior Scientist, you play a vital role to maintain quality testing in the Seed Physiology laboratories. Your daily activities will include project management, seed testing activities and close collaboration with team members of QC Development and Operations Teams in laboratories in (+ worldwide) Enkhuizen. All these activities must comply with company standards and regulations and local health, safety and environmental policies and procedures. Your primary responsibility is to create operational automated end-to-end test systems. You have ideas and concepts to deliver game changing innovations in greenhouse automation. You have in-depth knowledge of plant physiology, technologies in growing substrates and plant interaction with climate within a controlled environment. You have the ability to work on the technical design of cultivation systems with experience in experiments and systems analysis. You have knowledge of controlled environment conditions.

Your profile

To be successful in this position, you have a bachelor/HBO and or master's degree in horticulture, biotechnology, or related field with work experience in a Dutch/EU greenhouse environment. You work problem-solving and are able to formulate research questions that can be translated into clear, goal-oriented and successful projects. You are a team player and have good communication skills in Dutch and English. You are familiar with tools and techniques in the use of Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and IoT.
