We are currently seeking a Senior Exposure Science Field Study Manager to work within an interdisciplinary North America Product Safety (PS) team. You will be an important part of a system meant to produce more food with less resources, all while ensuring human and environmental safety. In this role, you will work with experts both in and outside the company with a primary focus of delivering safe and effective tools for growers all around the world. You will be responsible for monitoring the field, analytical, and reporting phases of EPA and PMRA harmonized guideline field environmental fate studies. You will collaborate among regulatory affairs, business colleagues, external contract research organizations, and other technical experts to successfully deliver time-dependent and quality reports.

This position could be fully remote (USA or Canada), hybrid or onsite in Greensboro, NC, at your preference. Minimal travel is required, 5% for conferences. All applicants must be eligible to work in the USA or Canada. No visa sponsorship will be offered for the position at this time.

Duties:

  • Develop protocols to conduct field trials and supporting studies, direct/monitor studies, and manage the completion of final reports, including technical editing.
  • Ensure studies are conducted in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), EPA/PMRA harmonized and/or OECD guidelines.
  • Work cross-functionally with local experts to help resolve analytical challenges that arise in the conduct of these studies.
  • Contribute subject matter expertise and input towards risk assessments, company projects, and technical networks.
  • Collaborate with other regional experts, Regulatory Affairs, Business personnel, and external CROs to achieve company deliverables.
  • You may also have opportunities to:

    • Represent Syngenta via professional organizations/workshops, industry-wide task forces and meetings with regulatory authorities.
    • Engage in professional development opportunities that will enable career advancement via technical and leadership pathways.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agricultural/Environmental Sciences (Surface/Ground Water Hydrology, Soil Science, Weed Science, Analytical Chemistry, Environmental/Agricultural Engineering, Geology and/or Environmental Chemistry), or other relevant disciplines
  • 5 years of experience managing GLP field studies
  • Knowledge of EPA and/or PMRA GLP and Regulatory data requirements as it pertains to the crop protection industry
  • Strong technical writing skills for GLP reports
  • Ability to interact, communicate, and present scientific concepts clearly to project team members and/or internal and external stakeholders

Preferred:

  • An advance degree (Ph.D., M.S.) in a relevant technical field
  • Experience in design, conduct, and interpretation of regulatory guideline field studies for the registration of agrochemical products
  • Direct experience in the conduct of Terrestrial Field Dissipation, Runoff, and/or Drift studies, under EPA/PMRA/OECD guidelines
  • Experience working with 3rd party contract research organizations (CROs)
  • Experience related to agrochemicals in an industrial, government, and/or academic setting
