Senior Data Scientist

Role Purpose

• We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist to join our dynamic team. This role involves tackling complex data challenges, developing predictive models, and extracting valuable insights to inform strategic decisions to Crop Protection Development (CPD) and related divisions.
• The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data science, with proven experience in machine learning, statistical analysis, and big data technologies. The senior data scientist will lead projects from conception to deployment, mentor junior data scientists, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and improve our data-driven decision-making processes and will contribute to the development and enhancement of customer (farmer/grower) centric mobile application.

Accountabilities

With a focus on the Digital and Data Science critical initiatives for Crop Protection development (CPD) in India:

• Develop and implement advanced statistical and machine learning models to solve complex problems. Collaborate with data engineering team to seamlessly transition ML/AI innovations into scalable and reliable operational solutions.
• Lead the data-driven decision-making process, from data collection and analysis to implementation and monitoring end-to-end solutions
• Manage data science projects, ensuring they meet business requirements and are delivered on time
• Mentor junior data scientists, providing guidance and support in their professional development
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including indication teams in CPD, marketing, and commercial teams to understand business challenges and objectives, translating complex data into actionable insights. Maintain and develop cutting-edge features for existing mobile apps. Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
• Develop solutions for NLP involving LLM. Implement models for natural language understanding, conversation, and summarisation. Fine-tune pre-trained language models for domain specific generative AI applications. Streamline Generative AI model development and deployment using cloud infrastructure and capabilities. Evaluate model performance using quantitative and qualitative metrics. Iterate and improve models based on feedback and analysis of results.
• Data analysis and E2E data workflow, including data quality management and BITS
• Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in data science and machine learning, continuously improving our methodologies and technologies
• Partner with AMEA and Global Technical Excellence and Quantitative Biology team for development, testing, and implementation of new methodologies and applications in data projects.
• Use BITS and other tools and systems to provide information to CPD team in the form of data searches, queries, summaries, visualizations, analyses, and reports.
• Develop clear and concise communications and presentations to business partners.
• Document research findings, methodologies, and model architectures. Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate results and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Knowledge, Experience & Capabilities

Critical knowledge

• A minimum of 6 years of full-time work experience as a data scientist
• A postgraduate/graduate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field,
• Excellent programming skills in languages such as Python
• Experience with big data technologies and data analysis software like R or MATLAB
• Exposure to natural language processing, image processing techniques, and big data stacks
• Experience working on AWS or Google cloud
• Familiarity with SQL databases, enterprise search technologies, and recommendation systems
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams
• At least 4 years of experience working in data science or related discipline in the agrochemical industry      

Critical experience

• Good understanding of agriculture, field trials, crop protection, farmer focused applications and its elements in India
• Good data science project management skills.
• Strategic thinking, ability to understand customer needs, business potential in India
• Focused on customers and is dedicated to meet the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers
• Broad understanding of digital tools and data analytics software.
• Strong communication skills to guide and influence stakeholders / organization to drive digital transformation
