To support that challenge, the Engineering team is currently seeking a Seeds Regional Autonomation Lead in Slater, IA, Waterloo, NE, Phillips, NE, or Lone Tree, IA.
You will help shape the future of agriculture by: 

  • Develop, Lead, and support plant automation projects across North America (NA) seed production sites.
  • Work with vendors on selecting the right technology for today and the future
  • Establishes and implements automation system preventative maintenance practices across NA seed production sites
  • Troubleshoot automation system issues to determine root cause, electrical, software, or mechanical in nature
  • Work with local maintenance teams at sites to ensure regular preventive maintenance programs are followed using the sites maintenance operating platform on the site control systems, & network.

Accountabilities  

  • Provide support on Root Cause Analysis (RCA) with local maintenance teams
  • Provide guidance and documentations on inspection, replacement, troubleshooting of automation equipment.
  • Drive continuous improvement to site SCADA reporting system to ensure data is collected, and visible allowing for data driven decisions.
  • Work closely with engineering, sites, and procurement on capital automation projects
  • Coordinate with automation venders, and internal resources to ensure consistent operation of specialized equipment.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed and all materials used.
  • Maintains continuity across sites and functions by and communicating actions, irregularities, and identifying proactive needs. 
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards; works within site policies & procedures.
  • Support development, implementation, and management of site control system cybersecurity.
  • Provide regional support for site LAN hardware for both OT and IT networks including documenting, maintaining, and defining VLANs to drive reliability and efficiency in network performance.
  • Development, review and maintain site I/O, and electrical documentation
  • Work with automation venders to develop, improve, and maintain site SCADA software (patches, version updates, etc.).
  • Coordinate with site resources to support use of site CMMS system “Asset Essential” to drive equipment reliability.

Qualifications

  • B.A./B.S. degree Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years maintenance experience in an industrial setting, 10 years preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours to support sites during in season production
  • Travel up to 33% of the time between seed sites located in Midwest
  • Strong aptitude for automation
  • All applicants must be eligible to work in the US

Critical technical, professional, and personal capabilities:

  • Strong automation aptitude and problem-solving ability
  • Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment
  • Ability to review and make basic changes to site control system software
  • Preferred experience with Rockwell, and Allen Bradley PLC along with Ignition SCADA software Electrical system knowledge and troubleshooting techniques
  • Efficient and effective job planning and organizing skills
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance techniques and procedures
  • Ability to detect malfunctions though sensory tests which are often confirmed by technical tests
  • Reading and understanding blueprints, diagrams, schematic drawings, equipment manuals and specifications
