Please note:  The territory for this position is Iowa.  Optimal support location for the role is in the Des Moines, IA area. 

At Syngenta, we are working to build the most collaborative and trusted team in agriculture that provides leading seeds and crop protection innovations to enhance the prosperity of farmers.  We are currently seeking a Seedcare Specialist for Syngenta’s Iowa territory.  In this role, you will create demand for Syngenta Seedcare products in accordance with the annual sales and marketing plan. 

Accountabilities:

  • Develop the commercial market for Syngenta Seedcare products by field demonstration of newly registered products to enable the positioning of products both externally with commercial Retailers and Seed Dealers, but also internally with the Syngenta Field Staff of both Syngenta Crop Protection and Syngenta Seeds (NK and Golden Harvest)
  • Provide expertise to sales team and customers in all aspects of seed treating technology, including trouble shooting, equipment recommendations, equipment set up, training of treating personnel and product stewardship
  • Identify, develop and maintain strong relationships with seed trade personnel and commercial treaters to further the interests of Syngenta Seedcare and Seedcare technology
  • Provide input, feedback and analysis on marketing programs, market intelligence, product development needs and product support
  • Create product demand to commercial customers through product, application and service expertise utilizing all available Syngenta resources
  • Provide commercial treaters and downstream Seed Dealers with current information regarding registered Syngenta Seedcare products including emerging products and equipment that would benefit their business
  • Provide location level seasonal application assistance that focuses on application accuracy and efficiency to better promote the Syngenta line of products and services  

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preference for Agriculture related degree or Commerce)
  • At least 5 years of experience in Agronomy, Farm, Retail Management or similar
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel significantly throughout the sales territory to include overnight as needed

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of agronomy, pests, agricultural trends, and agricultural equipment, including the requirements for pest control and Seedcare technology
  • Knowledge of seed industry, commercial treaters, seed dealers, distributors, markets, structure, operational and sales requirements
  • Experience with Crop Protection Products or Seed Industry
  • Knowledge of product inquiry handling to ensure timely, accurate investigation, documentation, and complete customer satisfaction
  • Knowledge of competitors and competitive products and activities
  • Ability to Identify trends early in the Seedcare business, agricultural sector and identify new opportunities for Syngenta Seedcare products
  • Ability to summarize, interpret and utilize scientific data
