You will enhance the prosperity of farmers by: 

  • Management and execution of all phases of seed production for corn and/or soybeans to ensure a high quality, reliable, and timely supply is delivered to the facility
  • Fostering on operations culture founded on HSE and process improvement
  • Develop crop placement plans that deliver agreed upon production goals
  • Collaborate with the Production and Processing Technology to develop best practices in seed production
  • Actively engage and provide technical expertise with seed growers, and production research for seed multiplication

Accountabilities  

  • Contract required production acres with seed growers to maximize yield, and deliver seed meeting quality standards
  • Develop and maintain a grower evaluation system to drive increased yields and quality
  • Manage pre-season planning duties, including, recruiting new seed growers, field selection, hybrid placement, creating preliminary field maps, and SAP data entry
  • Provide post season yield analysis using Geographic Information System tools to evaluate growing area strategy
  • Provide Production Manager & SPS with quality and reliability data to support P&S in advancement process
  • Understand species and variety characteristics, seed quality standards and crop delivery requirements to optimize seed availabilities
  • Through networking and education, remain current on new and emerging production techniques, bring to production team for evaluation and fit analysis
  • Provide technical advice to commercial agronomist’s and seed growers on new and unique production techniques – working partner and consulting on farm
  • Develop and implement programs regarding agronomic issues in production fields including, weed, disease and insect programs, and timely field inspection programs
  • Coordination with site internal Quality Labs and personnel to ensure high quality seed is delivered to the customer
  • General administrative management duties including signing vendor contracts, collecting, preparing, inputting data for reports and conducting Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Foster an operational culture founded on adherence to all applicable Health Safety Environment (HSE) and other corporate policies, procedure, and guidelines
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and communicate with Field Production team key milestones

Qualifications

Requirements 

  • Requires Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or related field; equivalent professional experience and/or training in addition to the experience requirement will be considered.
  • 2-4 years related experience preferred
  • Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) preferred
  • Soybean Seed Production experience preferred
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • Individual must be authorized to work in the United States for Syngenta without work authorization sponsorship now or in the future

  • Achieve annual COGP and HSE targets
  • Proactive professional working relationships with seed producing vendors
  • Assessments, implementations, and execution of important business strategies relating to consistent supplied of high quantity seed products
  • Ability to remain flexible and responsive when faced with multiple urgent requests
