Role purpose  

The Seed Processing Coordinator at Syngenta Flowers is crucial in ensuring the efficient and effective processing of flower seeds, from raw material intake received internally from greenhouses or imported from abroad to final product packaging such as seed COM and BAS500, COM and BAS510, COM610. This position requires a skilled process engineer with a background in manufacturing and production planning who can oversee and optimize seed processing operations and protocols as well as all associated equipment in good conditions while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards. 

 

Key Accountabilities 

Seed Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for improving seed processing workflows, equipment utilization, and overall efficiency. Implement process enhancements to maximize productivity and reduce waste.  

Key tasks associated with the role are: 

  • Inform production any quality deviation on the seed received.  
  • Improve and update the scrap factor of all crops. 
  • Review the multiplication report and priority list constantly (Seed Process). 
  • Review and process the seed incomes according to protocols. 
  • Monitoring the process order zp01(process), zp10(re-process) and zp15 (production) 
  • Support production department with reliable information of the seed production 
  • Ensure the special process (scarification, seed treatments) 
  • Provide feedback to stakeholders about scraps,  

Production Planning: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop production schedules, ensuring timely seed processing to meet customer demand while minimizing inventory levels and production costs. 

Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce quality control measures throughout the seed processing process, including incoming raw material inspection, processing parameters monitoring, and final product quality checks. 

Equipment Maintenance: Coordinate preventive maintenance activities for seed processing equipment to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance. Troubleshoot equipment issues and implement corrective actions as needed.  

Key activities associated with this role are: 

Work closely with farm Operations & Maintenance to: 

  • Coordinate the execution of the preventive maintenance plan established for all the equipment, especially the critical machines, to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the process. 
  • Ensure a stock of spares (local and imported) for all critical equipment to prevent process shutdowns. 

Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and regulations to create a safe working environment for all employees involved in seed processing activities. Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions to promote awareness and adherence to safety standards. 

Data Analysis: Collect and analyze production data to track key performance indicators (KPIs), identify trends, and generate actionable insights for continuous improvement initiatives. 

Inventory Management: coordinate with inventory and logistics teams along with the farm’s procurement team to ensure adequate supply of raw materials and timely delivery of finished products to customers. 

Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date with relevant regulations and industry standards related to seed processing, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and certifications.

Qualifications

Knowledge, experience & qualifications 

  • Bachelor´s degree in Agronomy/Agriculture, Industrial, Chemical, Mechanical, or related field. 
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in the seed industry and seed treatments 3 to 5 years. 
  • Strong understanding of process engineering principles and methodologies. 
  • Proficiency in production planning and scheduling software and technics. 
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to motivate teams, proven experience on people management. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities. 
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO standards) and safety regulations. 
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent English Communication Skills (90% Reading, Speaking and Writing): Clear and concise communication is crucial. The ability to articulate ideas, collaborate with international teams, and communicate effectively with stakeholders is essential. 
  • SAP, Excel, and Microsoft Office Proficiency: Advanced skills for data analysis, reporting, and spreadsheet management is a must.
