Seed Operations Lead- Rice

Role purpose

• Develop and execute seed production strategy for rice in India and Bangladesh. Build high performing grower base.
• Ensure reliability, seed yields, quality and cost per the business priorities per Syngenta HSE and Sustainability guidelines.
• Organize the production volumes as per the market requirement and as per the quality standard.
• Build winning team. Lead and guide team to achieve the business targets.
• Actively collaborate and contribute to success of cross functional product manage team.

Geographic Scope: India and Bangladesh

Accountabilities

• Responsible to drive the standards of HSE, Compliance and Sustainability initiatives as per Syngenta standards
• Responsible for reliable production of target volumes
• Responsible for planning and organizing production of hybrid rice in various geographic locations
• Collaborate with Regional Planner in preparing the Production Plan and approvals
• To lead a team of ZPM to achieve and deliver the production targets
• To select and allocate the production area across India among the ZPM to meet the business targets
• Responsible for pooling the needed resources as Manpower, TP and other needs as per business
• To collaborate with Procurement Team in finalizing the Grower Price negotiations
• Responsible for developing  Production strategy as locations, sowing schedule, hybrid allocation, Package of Practices and delivery schedule considering the SPR recommendations
• Responsible for timely implement the production practices and critical intiatives
• Management of Production data in System
• Managing the Production process and Deviations
• Collaborate with Operations Team  for arranging the packing materials and storage needs
• Responsible for regular production review  and seasonal review for continual improvements
• Collaborate with HRBP  for people capability development and arranging for the needed trainings
• Responsible preparing budget for all crops based on forecast
• Collaborate with SPR  and Parent seed team for timely supply of Parent seeds needed for production
• Responsible for regular review of SOP

Knowledge, experience & capabilities

• Experience and technology knowledge in hybrid seed production involving Rice
• Leading and developing winning team
• Cross functional collaboration
• Techno-commercial capability

Critical knowledge

• B.Sc (Ag) / M.Sc (Ag)/Seed Science & Technology/Agronomy/Plant breeding/Physiology

Critical experience

• Min 10-15 years’ experience in hybrid seed production of field crops
